    BeoSound 1

    Hi Guys

I am after some honest views please about the BeoSound 1.

I know it is an entry level system, but it is still a lot dearer than (dare I say it?) the Bose Wave.

Basically do you think it is worth the money? Is it a lot better than the Bose Wave ? What about lack of DAB? - Are there any silly "glitches" that drive you bonkers etc etc

    Cheers

    Gareth

No contest. Get a Beosound 1. Superior to the Bose Wave in terms of sound and style.

    Re: BeoSound 1

    1. It looks stunning anywhere, as most B&O products do.

    2. You have FIVE good, balanced speakers inside.

3.You can change the front grill cover to suit your mood, colour, or design palette.

    4. It plays CD, and programmed or random FM radio, with or without the Beo 4 remote.

    5. You can turn the volume down, and back up again when using a B&O telephone.

    6. It is portable, with a hidden antennae one can raise or not..

    7. Using the AUX plug underneath the BS 1, you can use in an IPOD, or MP3 player .

    8. Using the same AUX plug, you can use it for a Home Stereo System, using DVD, TV, or SAT TV components.

    9. The newer units have an alarm and will play downloaded CD copies.

    10. The function LCD displays time, CD track, and radio program selection.

That's my admittedly biased, top ten features.

    A great little design !

I posted a very similar question last year, and these are the responses I got.

I think they are a great little stereo - When I first heard one I was amazed at how good it sounded! Certain dealers in the UK have got a promotion on whereby you get a free Beosound 6 when you buy a Beosound 1!

I think if you are seriously considering buying one, you would be daft not to take up this offer! Smile

I have one, MK1 I think. No glitches. One of the stand out B&O pieces and a very good value.

It sounds good, has the AUX and as far as I know the MK2 can even has alarm.

Fantastic little player - by far the best 'all-in-one' I've heard on the market, and that includes Meridian's little thing IMO (which costs more and looks like the offspring between a car accident and toaster).

The lack of DAB is an advantage - DAB isn't going to be around for as long as many think, and IMO, FM will outlast DAB. Also bear in mind that DAB is terrible for listening to music.

    Re: BeoSound 1

The Beosound 1 is such a cool B&O item to own. I've had one a while, it's the latest one, and when placed on it's stand in my relatively small bedroom, the sound is unbelievable for it's size/price, and yeas the Aux is super handy for connecting ipod/ beosound 2. If i had to find what was not good about the product, it would be the plastic creaky feel to it, which i find sadly, unpleasant. I have over come this by using the Beo4 with it. It's also available in so many different colours, you can't go wrong! I just wouldn't use it as a main room hi fi system...

Coming from an INSANELY fussy person here, it's power supply drives me a bit nuts at night during operation, it has this constant metallic hiss which is audible to me, but then, the ouverture had a humming power supply, so it's not as bad as that.

The bose wave is a completely different product

I agree the Beosound 1 is a very nice player, though if you are looking for alternatives to compare with try the B & W Zeppelin iPod dock.

I believe B & O also have an iPod dock scheduled for later this year

    Thanks everyone

Your feedback has resulted in the untimely demise of my piggybank!

    - I have just been out and ordered one whilst it is on the great offer that effectively includes a "free" BeoSound 6

    Cheers

Congratulations Gareth, I think the BS 1 is one of the greatest products B&O made !

It was my first B&O and I listen to it almost every day.
