    Beosound 3000 - B&O Repair?

    Hi All,

Despite Peter very kindly uploading the Beosound 3000 service manual for me, and my subsequent own efforts to fix the doors (the have become mis-aligned, and the also the wire which controls them has come off its wheels) on my Beosound 3000, I've had to admit defeat. So I rang my local dealer and was informed that they charge £50 just to look at it.

My question is: is this common practice? I fear I could end up paying through the nose for a repair!

    Thanks

Pretty common! Why not ask Tim Jarman to have a look. It will mean a bit of a trip but he will do a good job. Contact him at Beocentral.

Prices for B&O repairs are like the prices of B&O products...

This is quite usual in my experience. It is more of a deposit than a charge and will cover the first hour of labour charges. £50 an hour is about the going rate.

Roundhay Leeds charge £75. This comes off the final invoice though.

I always think it is no use having it as a none working bit of kit, bite the bullet and get it sorted. Then enjoy it for a few more years.

I had the same in the US as well. They charged a minimum fee which later would be taken off. To figure out what is wrong is often half the work on the way of fixing it.

if it was too cheap or even free the stores would soon become graveyards of mistreated b+o , and the smell of foam rot would be overpoweringWink,
