    IR codes X-box

Hi, I would like to control my X-box (the old one, not the 360) but doesnt seem to get it right. I found this codes on the webb :

    1 0000 0048 0000 001a 00e3 00e3 001d 0038 001d 0071 001d 0038 001d 0071 001d 0038 001d 0038 001d 0071 001d 0071 001d 0038 001d 0038 001d 0038 001d 0071 001d 0071 001d 0038 001d 0071 001d 0038 001d 0071 001d 0071 001d 0038 001d 0038 001d 0071 001d 0071 001d 0071 001d 0038 001d 01cc

I have tried this series that should give send "1" to the X-box. I pasted the numbers into the "command frame" of the Beo 5 CT setup but it doesnt work. Do I have to choose something to the right in the software as well ? There a some options like TV, Radio etc and also 4ex, SS and so on.

Would really appreciate some help here.

    Best regards

    Hans

    Re: IR codes X-box

The old XBOX uses RCA codes, a standard protocol for controlling DVD players. I don't know if this will help you much, since I dont know how the beo5 remote control is programmed.

Here are some links that may help you:

    About the RCA protocol: http://www.sbprojects.com/knowledge/ir/rca.htm

Under "Remote buttons" you will find a table describing the remote code for each button on the remote: http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Keymap.xml

The 4 bit address for the xbox is "5" or "0101" in binary if i remember correctly.

Let us know if this helps. Maybe I will get a beo5 for my own xbox if you can make it work.

    Hi Magnus !

Thanks for your reply. What do you mean with this :

"The 4 bit address for the xbox is "5" or "0101" in binary if i remember correctly"

Do I need the send "5" or "0101" before the command I would like to send ? The commands that are listed, do they need to be sent with binary ?

    Regards

    Hans

    Re: IR codes X-box

Well, the ir-protocol that is used with the xbox remote control sends two different parts of information. First the address that tells xbox that it is supposed to read the signal, and the signal. For the xbox, this address is 5 in decimal form, which translates to 0101 in binary.

Secondly, all IR signals are sent binary. If you can tell the beo5 to use the correct protocol (RCA) then I don't think you will have to worry about this. It all depends on how one programs a beo5. Since I don't own one, I don't know how to program it. :)

Lets say you can choose an address. Then you will have to set this to be 5. If you cannot, then I think you will have to put 5 in front of the command you want to send.

I'm sorry I'm not able to help you more. :/

I don't think it is possible for Beo5 to send IR-Codes that is not B&O specific.

Nope, I'm not able to get it running. Does anyone know if something in the STB-list uses RCA-codes as Magnus mentioned earlier ?

You need to have the X-Box included in your TV's settop box controller, then you can control the X-Box via your Beo5(There is a Beo5 configuration for X-Box also).

All you need is a IR-Cable and the X-Box in the tv and you are flying :)

Thanks Weebyx for all information. I also have noticed that the Xbox is included in the Beo5, but I cant get it working. I managed to get the Lutron-commands since it is an Accessorie but the Xbox is listed as an Source, seems to be some difference there ?

It will only work if you get the XBox configured via the TV, then the Beo5 will send B&O codes to the tv, and the tv will send XBox codes via the ir cable to the XBox.

Hi again, since my dealer is located 250 km away : is there any way I can update the STB-list by myself, or a way for my dealer to do it on distance ?

Yes, the Beo5 itself cannot control other boxes than B&O, the reason there is a XBox in the Beo5 is so the buttons of the original XBox remote is available on the Beo5 screen. But still the tv needs the XBox in the STB list, and the IR cable

No! :( The dealer has a laptop with a RS232 serial -> Masterlink cable that needs to be physically plugged in the tv.

That was really bad Weebyx, but I suspected that it would be a problem. The next items I will get is a Wii for my kids and a Popcorn Hour for dad. Do you know if these two also are available in the STB-list ? If I am able to get the update I would like to be as far ahead as possible to avoid similar situations, at least for a few months.... :-)

Hi again, i cannot find Wii or Popcorn Hour in the Beo5 configuration tool, so i guess they are not available, the Wii is also not easy to control by other remotes than the Wii remote.
