    Dead Beogram Tx2 - clues?

    Hi everyone.

I recently aquired a used tx2 (type 5911) from my uncle. Thing is, it doesnt work, at all. Appearently my uncle bought it in the mid 80`s, it ran flawlessy for two years, then suddenly died with no prior warnings or troubles. He thusly bought a new  identical one and stored this player in a shelf until now. So I`m wondering if this could be cheapishly fixed? Could it just be some faulty capacitors, or maybe a bad motor?

When I plug it in and put a record on, nothing happnens. The only fuse I could see when I opened it up appeared fine. The drive belt was ok.

     Any help would be appreciated.

Take the fuse out and test it for continuity. They look ok even when they are blown!!!

Hmm, you are right, the fuse is busted. I hope that`s the only thing that needs fixing :) Now to get a replacement fuse, fingers crossed.

    Been there, done that!

My money is on the deck being ok. Check that the suspension is not locked down and preventing the platter from turning. This could blow the fuse!

    Regards Graham
