Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Eugene:
Søren Mexico:
Seksy Seksy, A rocking girl and Je T'aime, I only have Blondie on CDs, and Je T'aime on 45
Now wouldnt this be a really interesting pairing. Imagine Ms. Hardy's vocals on the song Neon Lights.
THAT is one of the all time great album covers!
Current primary listening: SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Søren Mexico: the sound coming out from there is nothing to compare with the sound from a good CD, a good CD player and a BM 4000, after tonight I will never pack up my CDs or my vinyl again.
Good plan, dude.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Listening to Led Zeppelin III vinyl on the main system while Shane from ADT installs a security system. I was burglarized for the 2nd time in 15 months this past Monday. Both times the thieves only took Dark Side electronics. All Beo safe and sound.
Current primary listening: SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Evan: Søren, I just left the music shop with three CDs in hand and one on order.
On campus now, heading to the car now for a listen
Keep it up Evan, we have to collect CDs before they get obsolete, the big ones want us to do it all on the net. And pay for every frigging note.
Beosound 3000, BL 4000, BL 8000, BG 2404,BG 5000, BG CD50, Beocord 5000, BM 901, BM 2400, BM 4000, BV S45, BV 3702. There is nothing we cannot do, but a lot of things we don't want to do!!

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
LANA DEL RAY's albumn, just released on iTunes
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Or coming from a good CD, a CD7000 and a BM7000 with some S75's.
Actual example - although pretty old (1994) but uncompressed...
Boy don't dare to compare that with those 256kbit streams I'm listening most to through the day...

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
tournedos:
I think what you describe for "Little Red Corvette" is there on the vinyl as well. I would speculate that Prince was recording at home to cassette and saturised the tape, a la Keith Richards' acoustic guitar parts in "Street Fighting Man," "Jumping Jack Flash," etc. Whether Prince intended to do that, as Richards did to get the sound he wanted, I won't further speculate.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Thanks for checking Rich, I'll just settle with the CD then
(and keep kicking myself that I didn't bother getting me a ticket when he was in Helsinki last summer for the first time ever - after cancelling numerous times over and over ever since the '80s)

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Listening to some basic 80's Europop "Pet Shop Boys" on a Beogram 3000 I fixed Sunday. I still think that my BG3000, BM3000 and CDX setup is my most attractive.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
The Mysterious Flying Orchestra, a late 70's RCA jazz album, each track a different artist. Really good jazz tracks, and I'm listening to it on my just reinstalled and dialed in system, Beogram 3300, MMC2, phono preamps.com phono stage, Beosound 9000, and Beolab 8000's. Wonderful. Just before this, Oxygene, by Jean Michel Jarre, ripped from CD on my music PC.A nite for 70's nostalgia apparently.

Something a little more current - testing one of the Beograms before I drop it off at the dance studio tomorrow.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Eugene: do I see the old Discwasher stylus brush there? I bought one of those in about 1986 and gave it away when I got an RX 2 (with the black brush) four or five years later.
Do they still make that brush? I still have my D4 record brush from the 80's (still works like a charm) and a Discwasher branded Zerostat 3 anti-static gun. I bought that gun for $25 - they're $100 new today!

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Jeff: Pink Floyd
Despite the interesting debate that ensued from my posting of Apple's iTunes Remastering program I did download "Dark Side of the Moon" and played it for my always critical son, I asked him what he thought of the rendition (played via a BV8-32 centre speaker and two BeoLab 3s) and he said something like "I never realised how good this set-up was until you played some decent music"
