Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
jk1002: >>Mano Negra <<
Interesting. My first concert ever that I visited was De La Soul and Mano Negra was opening up. Is that still some sort of punk rock? That must have been 18 years ago ....
From several years ago, the leader of the band, Manu Chao, began to play alone. He has 3 CDs alone. You can check it in his web. He developed the music of Mano Negra towards a world-music (due to his travels round the world), with influences from Brazil, Mexico, Africa (Argelia, Mali, Senegal...), always with a touch of punk-rock-world-folk-I don´t know exactly (I don´t like labs in music). Nowadays he is very involve in social projects, but I only like his music, I don´t believe in heroes from a long time . You can find the old thems of Mano Negra, re-mastered in a more actual way, not so punk as the begining of the band.

"Velvet Underground & Nico". Haven't listened for ages, still a great album.

Craig: Puncher: Craig: Mike Oldfield - QE2 Craig
Funnily enough I've just this second ripped "Tubular Bells" into iTunes (got on CD from the "Mail on Sunday"). I've never listened to it since my vinyl version god knows how may years ago. I'll listen again while doing computer drudgery tomorrow
Got the 25th Anniversary version. Never compared it to the normal version on CD. Craig
Now that is funny, I am hearing "The Orchestral Tubular Bell"

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
"Como Camarón" Estopa. Great Spanish band singing about the best spanish flamenco singer. And after this, Fernanda Abreu " Maracatu ", really pretty Brasilian singer. All in Creative Zen MP3 with Travel Dock speakers, after four beautiful Dominican rums. Pirate live, in Caribbean country. Funny live. The Privateer still live.

"Your Arsenal" by Morrissey on virgin vinyl (BS7000/Penta's) - had a lousy week at work and the wife & daughters are out doing whatever women do on a Friday night - probably visiting an all night shoe shop Just me & my Granddaughter Lily - bliss Chris.
The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Nowt wrong with that Fridsten. They used to have a soloist called Ivan Ribrov or Rebroff. He had an amazing span from the lowest notes to the highest. A song called "Evening Chimes" made it quite big in the Uk (on radio 2) in the 80s. I have been listening to Son Galicia Radio on N.Radio for the last few months whilst on the PC. It's a Celtic music based Spanish station but as from yesterday it's gone! So, whilst looking for something else to listen to, I came across a station called Patagonia Acoustic from Chile. It's nonstop music but I think they only have about 5 tracks! One of them is absolutely, fantasticly haunting. It's called "In the arms of the angels". I Googled it and found it is recorded by someone called Sarah McLachlan. Just downloaded it free from Limewire, going to put it on a CD so I can hear it in the lounge on my Penta/8000 set up. Andy T.
