Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Just had a listen to 'All on a Misty Morning' from As is Now by Paul Weller. Saw him in Blackpool last Thursday and he did a great version of this song :)

Nightmares on Wax - Ethnic Majority. Carboot Soul is a modern classic, one of the best electronica/lounge albums of all time...

Never heard of them. But I've listened to a few of their songs and I have to say they're very good in my opinion.

You are entirely correct Andy. What I meant, I listened to a few of their songs after Alex mentioned Nightmares on Wax here. I never heard of them before Alex made this post.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Excellent stuff - Carboot Soul is possibly the most relaxing album of all time, without actually sending you to sleep. Completely chilled, and yet good laid-back-party music too...
I also have 'Smoker's Delight' and 'In A Space Outta Sound'. Smokers Delight is a strange album, I would say I don't know what he was smoking when he made that album, but it's probably the same stuff everyone in the industry smokes. In A Space Outta Sound is another excellent album though, and makes great listening alongside Carboot Soul.
Right now - listening to Massive Attack's Protection. Another classic album!

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
First time I heard this album was when I went to a friends Brothers house one night. Next day I went out a brought a copy, seem to remember it was quite expensive at the time as it was only available on Import. Craig

I'm listening to Wynton Marsalis' Standard Time, Vol. 3. I love this album, it's so flowing. Miles Davis never liked Marsalis' style (or supposed lack thereof), but I think it's quite distinctive.
Excuse the multiple posts, but I was having a problem with my browser, and I'm not sure you can delete posts.

I have not heard Wynton Marsalis' Standard Time Vol 3 - I should give it it a try. I have downloaded Abbey Linkoln's recent release yesterday: Abbey Sings Abbey. And I love it... BTW love your avatar, what spyral galaxy is that?

I actually think it's computer generated, not an actual spiral galaxy. I just had it in my desktop picture library, and decided to upload it.

That really is a very beautiful piece, Alex. Another classical from that period is Ravel's "Pavane pour une infante défunte". Fantastic, makes me sad every time I hear it.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
I do have some Ravel on vinyl somewhere, I think it's from my granddad's collection - I'll have to dig it out.
Currently listening to Massive Attack's Protection. I can't get over how just... amazing... Massive Attack are. Every album of theirs is basically a genre defining album, they essentially invented Trip-Hop.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
"Steppin' out", Eric Clapton featured with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, with Champion Jack Dupree & Otis Spann (phew). Put that on the BG6000. I bought the record more than 20 years ago from one of my oldest (now late) friends. It's been years, too, since I last played this...
