Rarity of a white Beogram 5500?

I may be acquiring a complete 5500 system in white, apart from the Beogram! If I have it I would like the Beogram as I play alot of vinyl but I understand they are quite rare?

How many were produced? Does anyone know of any for sale?

    Thanks in advance,

    Llewelyn

Depends on where you are located.

I will say that white edition is not common as rosewood, palisander or black chrome like the 5000/6000/7000 systems.

Not many is aviable but they do come up with out much wait.

I got a white edition '80s Beosystem 6000 with a Beogram 6006 and a Beocord 6000. Now this is rare but you can never rule out that white edition B&O is impossiple to get. Now I got the system without speakers and even being in Denmark where finding B&O is very easy how many pairs so far that I noticed suitable in white? 3-4 and I got the 2 of them. 1 got thrown out by seller after discovering foam rot.

How many white 5500 for sale?

    http://www.dba.dk/asp/soegning/detail.asp?annonceid=55733135 Got a cd7000 but that's 1.

    http://www.dba.dk/asp/soegning/detail.asp?annonceid=55893464 Half 5500/6500 so that's 2.

With the 5500 system it's more rare to find it with all 4 units together with the same model number like 5500 and so on.

A Beogram 5500 is not hard to find. 2 in Denmark at present. It might take longer to find a white edition but you will never know how long it will take.

    hi,

there is a Beogram 7000 in white in Sweden on the site www.Blocket.se and the seller only wants about 65-70 Euro!!!

That must be a bargain! But he says it´s not used for a while and the pickup must be replaced.

Just keep in mind the voltage is 220 in Europe and 110 in the USA.

The voltage could be changed in a Beogram however but ask Dillen or Beoworld first.

Haha! That is a good price! It would have to be a 5500 as I think it would bug me to see a different number even though they are essentially the same! Smile

As for my location, I am in the UK (East Midlands) - I'm not sure why it doesn't say since I filled in the address details when I registered. My name is very Welsh but I am completely English which is quite strange

Looks like I will have to keep my eyes open for one I suppose! Your 6000 system sounds gorgeous - I have a 6006 system with a gram 6006 which is in palisander and I love it but my dream vintage B&O set would be a white 8000 system with a white cord 9000, white gram 8002 and white MS150's! Mmmm (Not that I will EVER find one! Big Smile)

The Beogram 7000 (& 6500) differs to the 5500 in that it has an inbuilt RIAA (preamp) whereas the 5500 hasn't. You would have to disconnect this before connecting to a beoamster 5500 or the noise would be horrible.

I am aware of that which is another reason I want a 5500 - I wouldn't say no to a 65 or 7 to use with my modern B&O but to complete the above system it has to be 5500 all the way!

Its a shame you can't get white pentas too lol Smile

Re: Rarity of a white Beogram 5500?

As I can see in the B&O catalogs for that period (mid 80's) white were costum order. Usally very few costum items rarely are in shops from my general experience with those kind of products.

I never looked for white B&O units for the Beolab 8000 system. I got a Beolab 8000 system (complete by february 08) in palisander though and the white 6000 were not something I could say no to at least give a try.

Funny enough when my white Beovox S80.2 were dropped of at Dillen he mentioned he had a white BM8000 and white Beovox MS150 for repairs for a guy from Island. Not for sale!

At Lauritz.com I noticed this one today: http://www.lauritz.com/Item/Item.aspx?LanguageId=1&ItemId=1339151&nBids=5&ReturnUrl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.lauritz.com%2fItemList%2fItemList.aspx%3fLanguageId%3d1%26DC%3d1%26CPIn%3d1%26ISz%3d0%26PSz%3d30%26PSzG%3d6%26SO%3d3%26ST%3d0%26IgId%3d154%26TTyp%3d0%26TVal%3d0%26FLId%3d1%26FCId%3d1%26FText%3d%26LLan%3dFalse%231339151EndTagRU
