Beolink PC 2 / Beoport questions

Hi, I bought a Beolink PC2 in 2003 but have never used it since my interest went down a few years. Now I would like to start it up and have a few questions :

    - How do I install it, I have unfortunately lost my manual. Can I connect it to my PC first and make the installation/upgrades, and then connect it to the Linksystem ? How do I make the upgrade of the new software available on B&Os website ?

    - I have a Beosystem 2500, a BV 7-40, a BV 7-32 and some passive speakers in two rooms. From what I understand the Beosystem 2500 makes it unpossible to get the Netmusic to the linkrooms. Is this correct ?

    - If the answer is yes on the question above : I have connected my BS 2500 and the older, passive linked speakers to the new linksystem with a converter. To "get rid" of the BS 2500 from my system, can I just unplug it from the converter and still use the passive linkrooms to listen to Netmusic using the Beolink PC2 ?

    Best regards

You need the manual - download it from the official site. You need a suitable audio master however. Alternatively, get an Airport Express and use iTunes and control it with an iPod Touch. Much better than the N.Music system at present.

Hi Peter, so you mean that I cant even use the Beolink PC2 without a suitable audio master ? I thought i could use it AND control it with my BV 7-40.

    Hans,

only the newer audio systems support the NMusic (PC) function. Systems like Beosound 4 and Beocenter 2.

With your B&O products it is not possible to distribute NMusic.

You can download the manual and software updates for Beoport (the new name for Beolink PC2) from the B&O website.

OK, I am getting the picture. Can I at least listen to NMusic through my 7-40 ? If I bought a newer sound system, would I then be able to listen to NMusic in the linkrooms ?

Re: Beolink PC 2 / Beoport questions

I think you can use the N.MUSIC if you remove the Beosystem, 2500 from your system all together.

The newer TVs can, I think, drive N.MUSIC, but if the Beolink PC2 is set as audio master, and therefore no other Audio Master may be on the system.

That said, there is an non documented way to make your complete system work, if I can remember well. Try and search the forum.

Re: Beolink PC 2 / Beoport questions

I checked with my local dealer who was on vacation and he too believed that with a removal of my 2500 it would work. I will try this as soon as possible. Do you guys believe that i just remove the connection from my 2500 from the converter then ?

... and set the TV in option 2; the Beolink pc2 in option 0.

    Connect all speakers on TV.
