    BG 7000 Cd strange noise

    Hi everyone.

My BG 7000 cd has just started making strange noises.

It only happens when a cd has been left in the machine and i switch sources........say from DTV to listen to a Cd.(Avant linked to BS 7000)

There is a noise for 5-8 seconds as it sounds like something is trying to engage inside the machine.Or that the disc is spinning and not engaging or what ever they do?!

The cd always plays and there are no other problems with my awesome BS 7000!

Can anyone out there please shed some light on this annoying matter?

    Thanks in anticipation.

I wonder if it is the laser trying to get a focus. The first thing to do is to clean the lens. The top comes off easily and the laser is easy to get at. If that makes no difference, I suspect the laser needs adjusting - some of these CDs develop faulty components which affect the laser focusing. Your problem will be a dealer will diagnose a failing laser - unlikely!

Re: BG 7000 Cd strange noise

    I feel such a fool!!

On closer inspection i now realise that the noise is coming from the tape player.

When the Bs 7000 is powered up the noise starts for about 5 seconds before the CD or other source is selected is selected.

When tape is selected the noise is continuous.

The tape drawer opens and closes perfectly, but the tape wont play , there is the continuous whirring and the clunking noise as if the tape was about to engage and play but nothing happens  the whirring continues though (i have tried other tapes)

When the BS7000 is powered down the whirring continues for about 5 seconds even after the rest of the system appears off and all the lights are out.

Any other help / advice appreciated

    Thanks

Probably belts - it whirrs when the system is on because the capstan is moving.

A trip to the repairers needed then?

Will they be able to mend it?

My Beocord 7000 was in for repair just a year ago, where they changed a electric motor plus belts and it behaves nicely now so there is a good chance they will be able to mend yours too. Mine had "strange" noices during playback.

Keeping fingers crossed for your Beocord and Cheers

I am a total DIY dunce..............its it a relatively easy job or considering my inaptitude at anything DIY would it be best to take it in for repair?
