    Avant Sat button

Sorry if this seems a totally dumb question, but...

I've just looked at an Avant 81/03, without an STB-C. When the owner wants to use the digibox which is plugged into the centre SCART, she keeps pressing LIST on the Beo4 until V.AUX is displayed, and then presses GO. The Beo4 is one of the older design with TV, SAT and V.TAPE down the left hand side.

Am I correct in thinking that the SAT button can be set up to select the centre SCART socket? How is this done?

    Thank you,

    Mark

    Re: Avant Sat button

    Hi Mark,
    I think it's
Menu (twice if the first one is the stb's menu)
    4 = Setup
    5 = Sources
Depending which Scart she has it plugged into (mine is in decoder)
move across to the relevant scart and press up or down to find Set-top box
    Press Go
Hope I have got that right!

    Thank you, Andy.

Do I have to tell it that it's the SAT button I want for this, or is there an implicit relationship between set-top box and the SAT key?

I think pressing Sat will automatically open the scart you have chosen.
Some Wise Old Sage will surely come along and correct me if I am wrong!

    Re: Avant Sat button

    OK, thank you again, Andy.

I can't get to look at the TV again until Wednesday or Thursday evening, but I'll try it then.

My mum's retired friends are discovering the joys of B&O - they haven't a clue how to set them up, but if some kind young(ish) man will come along and do that part, they are beautifully easy to use.

    Re: Avant Sat button

    Sadly, it didn't work.

Only one SCART appears on the SOURCES menu. This was set to V.AUX, and so the port could be selected by pressing LIST until V.AUX appeared on the Beo4, and then pressing GO.

The option of SET TOP BOX is not available - perhaps because the STB-C is not fitted.

I tried the other options, such as VCD and NON B&O VTR on the SCART, but all that seemed to do was to stop the Beo4 being able to select it in the manner I described above.

    The TV is a 28" Avant 81/03.

    Firmware is AP:4.0, FEP:2.10.

Any further suggestions would be welcome.

Has the TV a SAT module fitted?

No. The TV does not have the SAT module, surround sound, or STB-C. The SAT button appears to have no effect. Mark

SAT works on my Advant with STB-C attached.

    Re: Avant Sat button

SAT button works only with internal satellite module or if STB-C is fitted!

    Re: Avant Sat button

That's irritating, since an old 28" Avant doesn't take an STB-C, leaving the control rather tortuous. Mark

    Re: Avant Sat button

    Hi Mark

On the older versions of the Avant that don't support STBc set up menu do not allow you to assign the decoder socket to anything. You can either get the software updated to "reveal" this socket or you can assign a preset channel to automatically select decoder.

Go to the tuning menu and select a preset cahnnel not in use i.e #6. Then select "more" from the on screen menu.  Switch on the decoder option and store as preset 6. From now on simply using TV followed by 6 will bring up the decoder scart socket. No need to use the list function ;-)

Avant serial numbers below 128xxxxx are NOT STBc compatible.

    Hope that helps.
