The monitor in the "my five new toys" post

    Hi:

I would really like to get hold of one of the monitors mentioned in Jandyt's post. It looks really good. I have searched for it on Ebay and Amazon, and with the manufacturer and it all seems rather complicated. Is there an outlet in the UK? Does anyone have one I could buy off them, or do they no-longer exist?

I am especially interested in a 17" or above.

    Thanks

    Graham

Its a Mermaid Ventura, peach of a moniter and pretty hard to come by these days.  I dont think they are produced anymore?

I sent off for some literature a year or so ago and got a brochure which was a surprise as the website is not all that! However the moniter is stunning.

I bought one of ebay some time ago, gave up in the end as I was unable to get the thing working properly.. the later versions are nice which is what Andy has, I believe Peter has one also.

Not cheap! but can be bought for a bargain of ebay, try a worldwide search as they do pop up on german ebay.

Andy has the 15" and I have a 17". I got mine about 3 years ago - they are stupidly expensive! They use a generic Samsung LCD screen but are very nice! The glass contrast screen really sets them off. The power brick is not that well made - mine needed to be repaired recently - dodgy capacitors! Laughing

I did try to get one some time ago, and got one from eBay. However, it wasn't plug and play like this one. You had to have special card installed within your PC to make it work.
I sent off to Denmark for the card which cost me £60 odd quid and it still didn't work, so beware of this Graham, if getting one on eBay.
Don't blame you for wanting one, it's gorgeous, and very B&O-ish.

    HERE is their website.

Thanks everyone - just seen one in Germany (eBay) for around £80 for 15". That seems a snip considering the fact that I would pay £80 for a generic new monitor off of Amazon although I might wait till the 17" is made available.

A company clearly after B&Os heart!
