Why not connecting it to a set in order to decode digital channels? Analogue channels will be shut down starting from 2009 (2010?)... And the picture quality is far better with digital broadcast...

    Hello,

I am still trying to find which service provider (Orange Livebox, DartyBox, Free, Neuf, Alic...) works with the STB-C, in addition, i got the A9 remote that will only turn on the 'TV', therefore analogue TV.

Could you please help me with finding the digtal service?

I think that Canal+ definqtely works, but what else does?

    Thanks

If you mean you have a DVB-T module fitted, then it will work, however you will have to do a total module reset and then it will come up and ask you which country, you click "France" then scan for stations. See Page 13 of the user guide

To do a reset of the DVB-T only, you will need to go into the SETUP menu of the DVB, then down to OPTIONS then REINSTALL ALL once you are in France.

This does NOT effect the analogue tuner, however you can change the settings on the analogue tuner from the Service Menu of the Beovision 7

How old is your Beovision 7 and is it still under warranty ?

If your TV "keeps crashing" with the screen going green, then this needs to be fixed by your dealer.

    Regards Keith....

    Thanks Kieth and Stotty,

Keith, the TV is 1 week old!!!!!!! Believe it or not! im returning it back, along with the beo5 since when i press the logos, small whitle lines appear on the screen, a bit like static. Not a happy brand new TV i must admit!

Ive decided to wait until the MK4 comes out and probably go back to an Avant in the meanwhile!

You can consider that there will in short term be only 3 adsl providers in France :
    - Orange (the historical provider, with its expensive rates, outdated Livebox technology (it will be uptated, but I don't know when), but interresting broadcasting contracts due to their financial power)
    - Free, the best in terms of what you get for a fixed price of 29,99€, no option (higher bitrate; double box for ADSL and TV; you can connect the boxes and your computers via ethernet, wifi or PLC; illimited calls to a lot of countries, the ability to watch TV on your computer, HD channels (now there is France2HD, NRJ12HD, iConcerts (great concert channel without ads) for free, and National Geographic HD for 3,99€/month); the largest VOD offer; Hard Disk recording capabilities directly on the box; etc.). Note that Free is currently buying Alice, so there is no point choosing Alice, you will end up with a Free contract.
    - Neuf, which seems to offer something close than Free but if you analyse the contract, there are a lot of options, like the HD recorder, which is offered by Free, cost 3€/month with Neuf... I don't see any advantage in Neuf. Note that SFR just bought Neuf, so maybe there will be a combined ADSL+Mobile phone offer from them, but currently there is nothing interesting.

Darty is the newest and smallest provider, it doesn't looks like a future proof option, they will surely be bought by an other provider in the future. The offer has nothing that differs from the other providers.

I've heard that B&O is working on the Freebox HD to work via the STB-C, maybe it will be ok in a few weeks. They surely also works on Neuf and Livebox, but I have no information about that.

If you live in the countryside it will be difficult to get TV through the Internet providers, the speed is often limited to 1Mb/s.
But since June 30th 2008 most of French regions are covered by the TNT (French DVB) and on early August all departments will receive the TNT that represents 89 % of French population, so, all the chances that your BV7 would get digital TV! For being sure you can make the test by entering your postal code at this link.
    Welcome to France, Timhanna!

    Teddy_fr,

Thank you very much, I am really enjoying it over here, its a beautiful country.

I managed to catch TNT using the instructions from Kieth further up this post. I live in the 7th section of Paris so the signals etc should be fine :)

Im thinking to go with Orange's Livebox, since a local B&O dealer said that there is a compatible STB for it, Canal+ is great, but its pricey at 40 euros a month, add to that France Telecom line rental of 16 euro + unlimited Europe calls and internet == total of 70 euros. I think oranges livebox is 40 for everything

Re: UK BeoVision 7 in France

If you live in Paris, I would choose Free, it's the best offer for the price (29,99€), and rumors says that B&O is currently working on the STB compatibility with the freebox...

I've written a long post presenting the french internet providers yesterday, but sadly it has been "submitted for moderation", and it still doesn't appear...

Only choose Orange if you think that the contract they make for broadcasting football and some other exclusive content makes a difference...

Edit : my previous post has been approved now!

Could I ask another question about this, I have installed the DTV with all the french channels, all good, however when i go to use the TV option, and tune it, the quality is bad, noisy and 2 horizontal lines on the screen, i believe that my dealer has changed it for secam, however could i kindly double check the settings on the service menu with someone else?

    THanks
