My name is Robin and I'm new to the Beoworld forums.  I've come for your help because my dad who has an old beomaster 3300 amplifier and RL 60.2 speakers needs a new cd player since the B and O 3300 cd player that he bought finally died.  My first question would be suggestions on good cd players in the 800-1600 range. I was thinking about the cambridge azur 840c. Secondly I would need to know how to connect the cd player to the speakers and amplifier. Comments/suggestions/ anything? Thanks So Much for your time!

Welcome Robin!  In the price range you mentioned, you could actually find a whole 3300 system on ebay if you keep an eye out.  I bought my 4500 system (the system that came after your 3300) for less than $800.  Or were you specifically looking for a 'new' cd player?

Actually, when you say the cd player 'died', would you be able to say anything more about the problem?  Does it not turn on at all?  Does the cd spin but not play?

thanks cam for your speedy response.  I don't know what exactly happened but I know my dad sent it into B and O to get it repaired but to repair it would cost more than the cost of a new one so they suggested buying a new one.  I'm looking for something new for him that is going to last a long time time.

I am afraid that he got a fairly common response from B&O. Most of these machines can actually be fixed for relatively small sums if someone who knows what they are doing is found. The problem with a different make will be lack of remote control.

Robin could you describe in detail what's wrong with it?  This might give us a clue as to what's involved.  Does the lid rise?  Does it power on?  Does the cd spin?
