Help?

 

I am trying to play my Beogram TX2 using my Beocener 9500 as the amplifier. I connected the TX2 via connection that accepts the RCA plugs into a 5 pin din. I connected the 5Pin din into the the phono in on the Beocenter 9500. All I am getting is a loud hum.

The sound is terrible. I was told to connect  the Beogram to the Tape/Aux using a preamplifier. I did that. It does ot work.

 

What am I doing wrong?

The hum is because the beogram earth needs to be connected to the beocenter earth. The phono socket on the 9500 is the correct socket to connect this deck to.

You are possibly getting no signal because the RCA connections are outputs rather than inputs!

Thanks for the information. I did as you said. I grounded the Beogram TX2 to the back of the Beocenter 9500.

I connected the RCA cables from the TX2 into the RCA to 5pin Din connection that I purchased from B&O.

I plugged the five pin din into the back of the Beocenter into the Phono connection. The sounds is terrible. Not only is there a loud

hum, the output from the TX2 is weak.

Does my Beocenter 9500 have a built in preamplifier ?

Should I be using an outside preamplifier?

I thought there might be something wrong with my TX2. I recently had it serviced and when I plug it into the back of my

Beosystem 10 (which is a portable music system) It plays very well. It does not even require the ground to be connected.

This is very frustrating. I purchased the Beocenter 9500 so that I could have a system that could handle a turntable.

 

Any ideas?

The Beocenter 9500 has built in RIAA on the phono input so you do NOT need an external pre amp.

Of course the built in RIAA pre amp could have been bypassed by a previous owner!?!?

Do you mean They purchased it without a preamp?

I meant that the previous owner of the BC9500 could have got inside it and wired the RIAA pre amp out of circuit for some reason. It's a long shot but certainly possible!

I suppose anything is possible. I am really stuck.

I just took a BG3500 into sales stock. I plugged it into the AUX of a BC2500 to test it. No sound!

Checked with another cartridge - no change. Interestingly no datalink either!

Opened the deck up and on first glance all appeared well. Closer investigation revealed that the RIAA had been disabled by cutting the one leg on each of C4 and C12 thus disabling the RIAA. Looked in the DIN plug and the data link connection had been moved to the wrong pin!!!!

Resoldered the legs of the capacitors, reversed the datalink and it now works like a dream.

It just goes to show that you never know with 2nd user equipment!!!!

Last night I decided to once again try to connect my TX2 to my Beocenter 9500. This time I plugged the TX2 into the wall outlet instead of the power strip I used originally.  Now it sounds great. I grounded the TX2 to the back of The 9500. It now plays the way I always wanted it to. I don't really understand why my original way of connecting the TX2 into a power strip would cause such terrible results. I am just very pleased that it now works.

You have been very kind and helpful. I wanted you to know the latest. Does any of this make sense to you?

Hello-

I own a pair of Beovox S120 speakers. I am trying to locate the top speaker cover panels. My covers a broken and I have no way ot attaching them to the speaker cabinet.

If anyone has a pair of top covers please contact me.
