    my beovox 4700 project

    Greetings all,

I mostly collect japanese and american electronics, but have a fondness for B&O as my grandmother had a nice console in the 50's.  i came across a pair of beovox 4700's in my local thrift store!  they were all rotted and moldy inside, but the cabinets were clean and they played...so, for a whopping $6.50 for the pair, I grabbed 'em.  $50.00 later in parts and some sweat equity, they are singing in my bedroom.  I love them.

Never seen a pair in the flesh as they were not imported to the UK. Sounds like a good buy! How about a picture! Welcome to Beoworld.

    Greetings Peter,

Thanks for the welcome, I would love to post some pictures but am having a bit of a time figuring out how to do so.  The directions seem simple (options, add image etc) but the image won't appear on the preview.  Any advice would be appreciated.

    thanks

They won't show in the preview even if all is OK. I believe the system doesn't upload the images until you actually make the post, so the preview can't show them. This got me at first, too...

Can't see the pictures but the links work!

Looks like you did a nice job with the restoration, did you relace the capacitors too?

You just need to buy a vintage Beomaster to go with them now!

I'll try agin to post a picture directly...No. i didn't do the caps, although I may in the future (learning a little more all the time!) I think that would open these speakers up even more.

Your photographs have to be less than 100kb so you'll probably have to shrink them. I use Outlook Express to do this. Just send them as an email but drag them of the email into an new folder instead of pressing 'send

You can't add a photo' without some text in the compose tab.  Don't forget to click the 'Save ' button in the white box. On my set up, it's partially hidden in the lower right corner of the box. Good luck.

    Idea [I] here's the pic!?

If at first you don't succeed....

On a seperate topic, I found a pair of B&O CX 30 mini speakers, quite heavy, sound very nice for their size.  Any info on these?

    Yep look here

I'd be very surprised if the bass drivers don't have foam rot though. I've seen a fair few of these where the original B&O drivers have been replaced with non B&O ones so it may be worth checking this out.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Interesting.  These have rubber surrounds so they were replaced..The guy at the used stereo store won't part with them anyway!
