beocom 1 versus beocom 6000
Hello, I'm not sure when but I noticed the change in name 6000 to 1. Is this just a name change or did the features and functions change too. More important the pstn base that comes with the current beocom 2, can (US) beocom 6000 handsets of about 5 years old connect to them? Regards
Peter

Re: beocom 1 versus beocom 6000
Peter, The Beocom 6000 was released in the US and Canada around the middle of 1999, then in 2003 the Beoline US was released in Canada and the US and around the same time the phone was marketed as the Beocom 1. The physical hardware of the Beocom 6000 & Beocom 1 are the same, but the software loaded into them is different. The dealer or service centre can update the software in the phone using a Windows based software tool. Did you see my response PM ?

Re: beocom 1 versus beocom 6000
If I'm not mistaken BeoCom 6000 (US) and BeoCom 1 (US) cannot share chargers - Com 1 has slightly different connector. Other differences: BeoCom 6000 base charger had built in BeoLine and charge indicator on the master base. BeoCom 1 only works with BeoLine. Silver pyramid charger has no light BeoCom 1 supports 2 lines BeoCom 6000 and BeoCom 1 has slightly different buttons example Line 1 and Line 2, Mute BeoCom 1 has earset connector.
BeoCom 6000 will not work with BeoLine PSTN from BeoCom 2

Re: beocom 1 versus beocom 6000
I hate disagreeing with Keith...but on this side of the pond the BeoCom 6000 and BeoCom 1 are wildly different animals! Except for the rear shells on the handsets, nothing else is interchangeable. The last post has a list of the physical differences for you. In addition, BeoCom 1/BeoLine can handle 2 phone lines, and maxes out at 8 handsets instead of 6, and is fully compatible with BeoCom 2. Re: beocom 1 versus beocom 6000
I have to agree with the last 2 posts, that the Beocom 6000 and 1 are not compatible. I was planning to add an extra handset to my Beocom 1 system, and was told by just getting the Beocom 6000 handset (only) will not work with the base or charger. There are lots of Beocom 6000s on ebay.

eBay is a good option, but make CERTAIN that you are getting a US spec BeoCom 6000 handset. And even then, you may need to go to your local shop, or sent the entire set of phones and base to a service center to make sure that they're all running the same software. Russ

"If I'm not mistaken BeoCom 6000 (US) and BeoCom 1 (US) cannot share chargers - Com 1 has slightly different connector." The Beocom 6000 can use the Beocom 1 chargers, but not the other way around.

Re: beocom 1 versus beocom 6000
You are right, BeoCom 6000 (US) and BeoCom 1 (US) have different base connections, note the extra plastic around the pins as below:- This is exactly the same as the difference between a Mark I & Mark II Beocom 6000 in Europe. The points you raise for the Beocom 1 are exactly the same as those of the European Mark II except the software loaded in the US version is different to the European versions beoperson: If I'm not mistaken BeoCom 6000 (US) and BeoCom 1 (US) cannot share chargers - Com 1 has slightly different connector. Re: beocom 1 versus beocom 6000
Hello Keith Follow up question on difference in chargers and related voltages. So MKI charger/base station ( Beocom 6000) uses a 7.5V adapter and will only fit a MKI Beocom 6000 handset A MKII charger ( Beocom 1 in US, Beocom 6000 MK II in Europe) uses a 5.6V adapter. It will fit both a MKI and MKII handset. Now the questions: Do both MKII and MK I handsets use the same batteries, I assume 4.5V, right? If so will a MKI handset charge ok in a MKII charger? Regards Peter.

Re: beocom 1 versus beocom 6000
In the UK, a MK 1 willl charge fine on a MK 2 charger, but NOT the other way round. As far as I know, all 6000s use the same battery, and it's 3.6 volts. Andy T.
