Hello All! Is there any way to have 2 Master Audios?

    Oh good Beoworlders,

I have the following products, Theater room is fully set up beosystem 3 and beosound 9k with beolab speakers, beoport for the kitchen, beolab 3500 for the bedrooms.  I have recently acquired a set of beolab 3s and would like to put them in a bedroom.  I would like to pick up a Beosound 4 for that room but be able to access the BeoPort.  I realize I could get the Beolink Active, but I like having the option for a CD and SD playback in the bedroom.  My question: Is it possible to connect the BS 9k and the BS4 to the masterlink network and have them both access the Beoport?  Or will I create a conflict with 2 audio masters?

    Thanks

    MJM

You are correct, you cannot have two audio masters in the same system.

I understand there cannot be 2 audio masters, but does this mean that the 2nd beosound cannot access N.Music?

I thought that you can make the 2nd a slave and this allows you to play local sources, but also get link audio from the master... I was under the impression that a slave will work pretty much like an beolink active, but also support its local sources.  Wouldn't a slave just send the N.Music command to the master, which then does it's N.Music thing (talks to beoport to get the audio going) and the slave picks up the audio from MasterLink?

Is this just wishful thinking... or maybe this just saves me money on not buying the 2nd beosound that I've been considering...

My guess is that the Beosound 4 in a Link-room can be set to Option 6
and that BeoPort can be accessed from BS9000 and BS4.

You are absolutely right, Ignace, and the answer is yes, you can have two audio masters in one system.  The "secondary" audio master will need to be a BeoCenter 2, a newer BeoSound 9000 MKIII, or a BeoSound 4.  Any of those audio products will need to be in Audio Option 5 or 6 (depending on whether or not you need the system to take video commands).   Also, just as an FYI, a secondary audio master cannot be in a room with a secondary VIDEO system ... the second audio master can only be directly connected to a pair of speakers.

Re: Hello All! Is there any way to have 2 Master Audios?

Yes, 2 audiomasters are not possible. But you can configure your BS4 as a local source in option 6 as said before. BS 9000 in option 0, BS3 in option 2. In this setup you should be able to access (in the BS4 room) the BS4 radio/cd by RADIO, CD, the BS 9000 radio/cd by LINK RADIO, LINK CD, the Beoport by N.MUSIC, N.RADIO and video sources by TV, DVD, DTV....

    Hope this helps

Re: Hello All! Is there any way to have 2 Master Audios?

Thanks to all, these answers are very helpful.

Let's say, I have a BS9000 (MkIII, N.Music), BeoPort and BL3500.  I was considering a pre-owned BS3000...  If I set the BS3000 to option 0 (assuming it's not smart enough to be the 2nd audiomaster), and BS9000 to option 6, then would the BL3500 only see the BS3000? or would LINK-CD control the BS9000?

    Thanks,

    Stan

Re: Hello All! Is there any way to have 2 Master Audios?

    Hi Stan,

in this setup your BS 3000 is the audiomaster (option 0 if you have a BV in option 2 in the same room, otherwise audio option2).
BS 9000 in option 6 is a local source, which means, it can only be controlled directly via IR and not via masterlink.
Via BL 3500 you can control the BS 3000, BV, Beoport, but not the BS 9000.
Via BS 9000 you can control BS 3000 with LINK-commands.

Re: Hello All! Is there any way to have 2 Master Audios?

Thank you all for the help.  I have ordered a BeoCenter 2 and intend to use it as secondary audio in the bedroom connected to the Beolab 3 speakers.  I hope I understand you all that this will not compete with my BeoSystem 3 for Primary Video in the System Correct?

    Thanks again,

    MJM

Re: Hello All! Is there any way to have 2 Master Audios?

No problem. You should program the BC 2 to option 6 as a local source. So you will have also audio and video from the mainroom (if masterlinked).
Congrats and have fun with your new BC2.

If your BC2 is a DVD version (as opposed to CD), then you will access it with the DVD key on your Beo4 and if you have a DVD in the main room you will access it by pressing LINK+DVD.

The DVD from the main room is through Samsung Blu-Ray.

The video signal will not travel across ML correct? Also, is there

any way to bring signal from my BS3 (video) to the BC2 and make

it play on my non B&O Panel in a Link Room?

Had not realised you did not have a B&O TV in the link room.

You can bring the video signal from the BS3 to the link rooms, but you have to change a setting on the BS3 to activate the RF modulater permanently.

Then you should be able to access the video signal of the BS3 (and any non HD source connected to it) from the link room TV and control the BS3 through the BC2 IR.

You'll need to have an RF amplifier.

Re: Hello All! Is there any way to have 2 Master Audios?

Connect your Link-TV out of the BS3 to the TV input of your bedroom panel and find the link frequency - normally 599 MHz.
Now you have to control the panel with its remote and your Beosystem with Beo4/5.
I think you will need the RF Link Amplifier, but I am not really sure....
