    Beomaster 6000 terminal....

    Hi!

How do I find out if my BM6000 has the IR module fitted? I want a remote control for it but would like to know if I have the module or not before I buy one!

    Cheers,

    Llewelyn

Very good question! Without opening it up, I am not sure! The remote receiver is on module 14 and not at all where I would expect it! I suppose you will need to see if the board is fitted unless there is a sticker anywhere.

    Re: Beomaster 6000 terminal....

Peter is spot on.  I have just updated my BM6000, first opened it up to check to see that there was a small PCB behind the cover of the IR receiver, everything was there but had no idea whether it would work.  Eventually bought the 2035 remote from another Beoworld member and was extremely surprised when it all worked first time.  Since then, have never looked back - hard to see how we managed for so long without the remote.  Good luck with yours.

If you tip the unit upwards from the front, the remote control module simply unclips. You can see then if the board is fitted, without having to dismantle the unit further.Quite unusual not to have the board though?

Thanks for the link - That remote control is very nice :) However, the 6000 I am talking about is the later one from the early 80s so I don't think it would work!

The link is for the '70s Beomaster 6000.How that will work I'm not sure either.

Yes always unclip the plastic under the bottom of the BM6000 to see if the pc board is in place before getting the remote.

The 2035 remote and module was optional so not always installed.

I found out the hard way on this. I got a rosewood BM6000 and it came without a remote as I recall. Lifestyle had one for sale and I got that one. It's still working great together.

When the white edition BM6000 came around it needed the remote and a service so it got send to Dillen. Meanwhile I found a remote on ebay.co.uk which was rather dirty but cleaned up and a new battery it works just as well as the other + looks just as good. Anyway I got the BM6000 home and plugged it in. Tried the remote. Nothing! I called Dillen who said he did not look but check the pc board under the BM6000. I did on the rosewood to see what it should look like and the white one had no board. I then asked Dillen if he had one and yes but it was not marked as being a working one. So I got that and installed it works fine.

The 2035 remotes do come up so just keep looking.
