Hi!

Today I noticed my Bm7000 is dead. Only when connecting/disconnecting Beovox I can hear a "pop" in the speakers otherwise the master is completely dead. The red led is also not lit.

Any ideas. A fuse or something?

The master is connected to mcl passive and MX television.

I have now changed Bm7000 for my Bm5500 (beolink version) and noticed that MCL system is not responding. Can this have something to do with faulty Bm7000.

It is likely that your Beomaster 7000 has a power supply problem, certainly check fuses, but even if a fuse has blown we need to understand what caused it. I would not connect your MCL to the Beomaster until the problem is resolved in case the fault may cause damage due to incorrect power supply voltages.

Are you a technical person who could do some voltage checks with a meter ?

I'd better send it to my repair shop I think. How come the MCL doesn't work with BM5500 when I swapped them???

BM 5500 otherwise works ok

It's quite common for the main fuse to blow due to a failed main rectifier diode in this model.It's not a big deal to sort out,and a B&O tech will be familiar with it.

Your links may not be working via the BM5500,because the MCL plus are not connected correctly ie left and right.

We've all done this at sometime!!

Yes!

I used the speaker2 slots and to be sure I even tried the other way before posting to be sure. I didn't know about the differences between Bm7000 and Bm5500 regarding MCL but as you said Nick, it seems we all have to walk that way eventually. Good for me though I had a spare Bm while my beloved undergoes some service

well, having no idea what is downstream in your mcl, it is tough to say, but...

a lightning strike/surge, etc... *may* have caused the initial issues w/ the 7000 and likely down the mcl to additional components, as it sounds now.

are you running mcl2a's or a/v's? w/ an a/v you should be able to at least plug an aux source in at the link room locale (say a cd unit) and see if you have any ouput in that room. if you have the a's -maybe someone else might have a test???

I have mcl2a and chained to this I have a mcl2av.

I tried your suggestion and plugged a cd5500 into mcl2av and no response. Seems to be a fault between Bm and the first mcl2a then. I might have a spare mcl2a and will try to change and see what happens later.

Hi!

I got my Bm7000 back from my repairshop. As you said it was a blown fuse and a part: AEG #B80C3700/2200SiC which probably is the diode you mentioned.

Everything is working perfectly now. Thanks all
