I have just acquired a set of beocom 6000's and a pstn base all of which were used together by the previous owner.

I know the phones are talking to each other as

Re: Beocom set up, help please?

The phones are connected as a number stored on one handset registers on the others.

However, the red light on the phones are blinking away.  "LINE BUSY" apparently, yet when I reconnect my bt phone that works fine.

    What am I doing wrong?!?

    Thanks

    Dan

    Dan,

Are you getting "Line Busy" on all Handsets ?

    Keith,

    Indeed, on all of them (4 x bc6000's and a bc2 too )

    Confused

Well, that means one of the following is most likely to be causing the problem:-

    • Either pin 2 or 5 of the phone plug from the base is open circuit. Check the phone plug connections at both ends of the phone cable and make sure the RJ11 plug at the other end is firmly plugged into the base.
    • The base was not previously used with the handsets and the software revision is not compatible

    Hi Keith.

    Now I'm really confused.

There is no plug into the base (pstn). It's just a wire which dissapears in to the unit.

And there are only 4, not 5 wires on the plug at the other end of the pstn wire....

Re: Beocom set up, help please?

I googled RJ11 and saw it looked like my "Z Blocker DSL filter"

So I tried this instead of the basic splitter which came with all the handsets, and hey presto, success.....I can now make and receive calls.

However, I have the beotalk 1200 plugged in to the the larger of the 2 sockets but that doesn't seem to answer a call as it should.

Thanks so much for the help so far Keith, I'm getting there slowly!

Hardly worked out as such. More trial and error really, given that I haven't the faintest idea what I'm doing.

I now have the base plugged in to the ADSL filter modem bit.

Re: Beocom set up, help please?

But what about the beotalk 1200. No joy if plugged in to the phone part of the filter, ditto if it's also in the modem bit via some adapters.....

I feel I must be almost there, no.....?

    Thanks

Re: Beocom set up, help please?

Hopefully I can now post more than a few words at a time Smile

I searched the forum and see other people have had this problem, and that sometimes it comes down to there not being enough wires in the um, wire. And indeed I saw the LINE wire from the bt1200 only had 2 wires inside it. Ahah I thought....so I changed to another with a full compliment of wires but it makes no difference at all.

I presume I'm looking for a little telephone icon on the bt1200 display when I'm on a call, but nothing, and it doesn't answer a call.

I've tried all combinations I can think of, with the BT1200 LINE wire going through the adsl filter, bypassing it, in line with the base, split from the base with a splitter etc etc, but no, not a sausage.

What am I doing wrong!?!? As far as I know, the bt1200 should be compatible with all bc6000 phones, and my kit dates to 2004 so it's not even that old.

    Many thanks for your help!

    Dan

Re: Beocom set up, help please?

More by luck than judgment really but I have now got everything working as it should be.

I noticed at the bottom of the box a black splitter which came with the phone, so now I have wall socket into adsl filter, into black splitter with the base in to the rj11 socket, and the bt1200 into the phone socket via an rj11 to bt converter.

    Phew.

Thanks for your help Keith, you're a star.

Re: Beocom set up, help please?

Glad you have sorted it Dan.
Incidentally, the Beotalk 1200 has nothing to do with the Beocom 6000s. It is a standalone item and can be used alongside a whole housefull of Kikinoko 'phones. (Or infact, a whole housefull of no 'phones!)
