    beovox speakers

I do hope someone will be able to help. I have recently become the proud owner of my parents old b and o sound system. I do not wish to use the tape and record deck but would love to connect the speakers to my existing jvc sound system. The b and o system is at least 30 years old and hardly used, but the speakers have foam rot and I want to replace I believe its called a new driver in each one, where do I get this from, is it expensive? the speakers are S55T6426 thank you deborah

    Welcome to Beoworld.

The S55 is a pleasant smaller speaker but does indeed suffer from foam rot. I would suggest having the surrounds replaced rather than the drive units. If you are in the UK, I would suggest Recone Lab as being able to this for you.  I suggest ringing them as they are not great at email!! I would consider having the capacitors in the cross over changed at the same time - makes a big difference! They age and the sound becomes slowly more dull.

I agree with Peter re:- getting them refoamed & the capacitors replaced. Replacement units are impossible to match with the originals,

    Reconelab are in Huddersfield.

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.
