    BM6500 vs. BM7000

I may need a Beolink 7000 compatible Beomaster. In order for me to make a good choice, could anyone tell me the difference between BM6500 (I think the late versions are BL7000 compatible) and BM7000, both in terms of technique and functionality?

    Thanks,

    Jean-Sebastien

    Re: BM6500 vs. BM7000

I haven't checked the service manuals to verify, but if I recall correctly the only difference between the 6500 and 7000 is that the 7000 has RDS, meaning it displays the names of radio stations.  In terms of the beolink 7000, it will work with both beomasters.

The BM6500 has no RDS. The cpu board is almost identical to the older BM5500, the BM7000 has a complete new designed cpu board and a revised tuner board + the additional RDS decoder board.

Power supply, amplifier and preamp are 100% identical and exchangable.

BM6500 and 7000 are almost identical and compatible with the same Beolink controllers BL1000/5000/7000 and MCP5500/6500. There is only a very small difference in the linkroom compatibility...

Don't forget that some Beolink 7000s don't have RDS. Bit of a useless novelty any way, IMO.

    Poor me, never win owt!

For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk and we learned to listen..

Maybe his antennae hasn't quite matured!

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

Besides RDS, Beomaster 7000 has 24 preset stations, Beomaster 6500 has 20.

I really don't know! When I say I can't get FM, I mean I only get one station - Kiss FM - and I'd rather listen to Radio Noise than that. Even my Tivoli radio can only pick up Kiss FM. Strangely, a few rooms parallel, my mum's Tivoli picks up all the stations you'd expect.
