    Difference b/w beolink converter 1611 and 1614

Anybody knows the diffrence betwwen the beolink converter type 1611 and 1614 ?

Is it possible to upgrade the 1614 to 1611 if the diffrence is only software ?

    Thanks for feedback.

The Type 1611 is an Europe version and the 1614 is the US version.

There is also a 1612 & 1613 which are the same as above except released a couple of years later

In fact my 1614 does not work at all. I tried a friends 1611 and it works fine. What could be wrong with the 1614 ?

As the 1614 is for the US market meaning it is expecting 110 volts main supply, did you provide it with 240 volts ?

Re: Difference b/w beolink converter 1611 and 1614

Keith, are you sure? I had a 1614 some time ago to connect my BC2300 to the BV7 (living in Germany with 230V). The 1614 was in fact similar to the 1610 (AV9000 Link Kit) except the software was different.

afaik the 1614 is the predecessor of the 1611.

On the 1614, it is specified that voltage should be 230-240V at 50 Hz, so I don't suspect power voltage as the issue. The software is 1.0.

    Any suggestions ?

Re: Difference b/w beolink converter 1611 and 1614

After Marcus said "are you sure ?" I started asking myself a few questions and doing some research and came up with the following conclusions:-

    1. When I reviewed all the converter units of a similar type, the follow results were noted:-
    • There has been/is two Types of Beolink Avtive, Type 1616 & 1618
    • The Beolink Converter originally discussed has had/has three (3) Type numbers 1614, 1613 and the current unit 1611
    • The Beolink Video is Type 1615
    • The Audio Kit AV9000 Mark II is Type 1610

The Beolink Converter Type 1614 is the older version which cannot perform all Masterlink functions and was replaced by the current Type 1611 with the latest software version of 1.4

The software in the Beolink Converter can be updated by the replacement of IC4 which is in a socket as below

    1. Looking at the power side of the question, the following was noted:-
    • There does NOT appear to be a Type number for any of the above converters for 110 volts and therefore we must assume they were intended for sale outside North America.
    • However, as you will see from the transformer circuit below used in the above units, there are three (3) jumpers which put the two primary transformer windings either in parallel or series depending if the unit is to be used on 220 or 110 volts.
    • So, no matter what the voltage stated on the bottom of the unit is, it could have been changed.

    Hi Keith,

How do I check if the current jumper settings and make sur that they are configured for 230V ?

Do you think I can order the SW1.4 and do the replacement ?

    Thanks

I also believe the T1614 could not be used in certain situations were as the newer T1611 could. Something about the audio master/video master.

Re: Difference b/w beolink converter 1611 and 1614

First, from a mains jumper situation, there is the old version and the newer version.

The newer version does not have jumpers and looks as below:-

If yours looks like this with the grey transformer next to the red socket, then it is 220 volts and NOT changeable.

If yours is the older version, then it has three jumpers as below. The bottom picture is an enlarged part of the top where the jumpers are located.

By changing the jumpers you can set it to 120 or 220 volts

The software can be ordered from your B&O dealer and plugs into the socket shown above.

Re: Difference b/w beolink converter 1611 and 1614

    Hello Keith

Thanks for the info. Mine has the grey transformer with the red socket so I assume its 220V.But the PCB is somewhat very diffrenet from the one in your picture. But my software says:

    B&O 1614

    SW 1.0

    8342509.

Don't know though if ordering a new s/w will make it work.
