    Speaker Calibration

One of the main speakers on my Century was deemed to need replacement. The repairer said that both speakers needed to be calibrated, so it was advisable to replace both.

I'm just wondering what calibration of speakers involves and if indeed it is necessary to replace both.

    Re: Speaker Calibration

Advisable - well probably. If one speakers unit has failed, I suppose one has to wonder why and is the same likely to happen to the other. The century has active speakers and the amplifier and speaker are matched. There is usually a setting marked on the speaker which can be set on the amplifier but this is not usually very complicated! Having said that, I don't have the Century service manual so it could be different. I have never worked out why the amplifiers are called Class G! Seem pretty normal AB ones to me!

    Re: Speaker Calibration

They changed the design of the speakers at one stage as the originals did'nt like high volume levels.I imagine that if you have to replace one speaker, you will need to replace them both in order that left/right performance is equal?

I can't think of any "calibration" that could be carried out!

    Regards,

    Nick
