I was attracted by the BC 9500 and the Beolink 7000. Also a pair of BL 8000. I bought everything except the Beolink 7000 in the early 90's. Luckily I had the chance to purchase a Beolink 7000 on an ebay auction 3 years ago. It's still one of the most beautiful tech gadgets I know.

It was the famous BM 1900 that I saw at my moms friends place. That was in the early 90's!! WOW!! She ended up giving it to me with a BG 4002, Beocord 2400 and S55 speakers. Luckiest day of my life. Of course I still have them and love them

    Mine was the BeoCenter 9500.

It still stands the test of time, as i look at so many pieces of B&O every single day and whenever a 9500 is being tested i still stop what i'm doing and stare at it being operated.

Thinking about these products mentioned makes me a little sad as there is nothing in the current range that has this effect on me.  I'm sure it will come soon though.

For me it was one of the Beocenter 7000 series in the mid-eighties in the sunday Times Magazines. Black glass, acres of brushed aluminium and the large red arrow LEDs. Following that, it was the Beocenter 9000.

It wasn't until 1993 however I could afford my first B&O proper:- A gothic green Century, followed by the Ouverture, followed by the BC2 as my main audio system. (with a BS1 SE in the middle that I will always keep).

    For TV's it was the ME6000, MX7000, BV1, Avant 32DVD, then another BV1's followed by a trade-up to the BV7-32, then 2 BV7-40's

    For loudspeakers it was the BL6000's, BL4000, BL2 then a trade-up to the BL5's and 3's.

I have recently aquired a mint BC9500 and a BG8002 as a bit of a school-boy memory thing and having not seen them yet, left somehow wondering how they will work and sound and whether all hype or not?

    Very funny.

My first love with theese top of line products was in 1993, I could finally afford the Century, in dark green.

Before that my parents had a pair of CX100 in white, but i didn't have the understanding of Design at that time:-)

Re: The B & O product/object that made you fall for them?

The first B&O I ever saw was a mint green Beolit radio at a friends house. It was halfway the seventies here in Holland. My friend's mother was from Denmark and they had several B&O pieces that they bought when visiting their Danish family.

I asked her what the mint green thing was and that was the first time I heard the words Bang & Olufsen. The admiration/fascination started there on the spot. I grew up in a small village where, in Dutch tradition, people would only buy Philips, because it was Dutch.

It started from there in the way we all know, I think. Young boy pressing his nose against the B&O shop window in the town 20 kilometers from his home. Trying to look older and very serious when asking for a catalogue.

We bought our first house in 2000 and after months of painting and fixing, the moment was there. I went to the B&O dealer on a Thursday night and bought my first set. BeoSound 9000 and Beolab's 8000.

Never forget the day when the big B&O boxes came and when I played the first CD on my new system (''The Visitors'' by ABBA). I went on from there and I took my responsibility in keeping the factory in Struer going!

In the 70s when I was in college I saw a catalog with a picture of the (I think) 1900. It was just so cool. Didn't buy anything though until after 1992 when I saw a BC9500 and BL8000 together in a store- I had to have it. In the 70s I worked at an organ factory and made a pipe and a stand with a simple wooden block for the base. I added a flexible tube to it like is used to route air to a facade pipe. The 8000s were strikingly similar- how could I not buy them?

My first contact with B&O was when I saw a Beocenter 2300, and the sliding doors just amazed me.

For me it did an article about BC2500 in a german audiophile magazine way back at the end of the eighties / beginning of the nineties. But what amazed me the most wasn´t the actual BC but the also mentioned BL5000, until today one of my alltime B&O favourites. The most elegant remote I know (also I unfortunately don´t own one). These lines, the transparent display, the graphic UI - simply beautiful.

Around 1973 Stringers in Wickersley and Hastings in Rotherham, I remember looking at the elegent turntables and receivers with slide rule cursors, I was at school with Phillip Stringer which was handy. Things seemed to go to the back of my mind until I was down In Wimborne Minster, Dorset taking photographs for a friends wedding and picked up a Beomaster 2000, TX2 Turntable with free cassette deck and speakers. I have been hooked since then, I really fancy a 9300 and some Beolab 4000 or Beolab 3 speakers.

Re: The B & O product/object that made you fall for them?

When I saw beocenter 7002 I was still at elementary school and I was thrilled by the design... Years later I found myself sticking with glue the beosystem 2000 over my bed! sometimes I were listening to music and thought it came from the Beovox CX100 that were also attached to the photo !one left and the other on the right... but until then I didn't know the cost to buy one Bang & Olufsen system....!!! I was deeply amazed by design and couldn't resist say "goodnight" every night before night sleep.

then one day in a hi-fi exhibition It was actually love at the first sight! Beolab Pentas and the magnificent Beocenter 9000..... Still , after so many years when I bring back that memory I 'm speechless and shocked!

but the biggest shock was when I asked for the price! 1.500.000 drachmas was the answer! ENOUGH to buy a small studio at that time, or a piece of land!

now after 20 years, I am a proud owner of a Beosystem 7000 which I adore , among other B&O goodies that I have bought! still I haven't found my first love, the beosystem 2000... Sometime..maybe!

Thanks to the fellow that opened this post! Very relaxing topic... It brought me back to my youth , where dreams were pure and had no chance but to remain unspoilt and DREAMS!

    Dear All:

It's the little things--I was in need of pair of earphone that I could I just and did not have to put them in my outer ear canal.  I do not like listening to music via earphones.  While in grad school, I needed to view a multitude of video tapes.  The only place I could do that was at the library. (Less than a year ago I bought my first tele; though, the BV 7 is only used for watching movies and education videos for my post-grad work.  It remains unattached to any aerial signal.)

I went into the B&O store and noticed all of the wonderful sounding and looking equipment.  Not detered from my mission, the sells person showed me the A8s.  I was hooked.  The quality of the product, adjustability, workmanship, and sound were I was looking for.  But what closed the deal was the fact that I could pivot the speaker away from my outer ear canal and still be able to hear.

Now I have several other pieces.  The A8s were donated to my sister.  Most recently I acquired a used mint Beocentre 9300.  I am looking for the old cubed speakers.  Any idea where I could get a pair?  I keep checking ebay regularly.

The BC 9000 - just touching the load button on either the tape or cd and the panel disappeared silently and quickly - this was experienced at Rackhams, Birmingham. I knew I wanted the BC9000, it would be a while before I could get anything B&O. A few years down the line, I became a happy owner of a BC9500/Beolab150/RL140 combination.

The remote control of the Beocenter 7007 I bought in 1983.

It was magic - I could control everything from different rooms in my flat, in 1983!

Seem to remember it looked like this one?

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

For me it was a BC9500 with matching 9500 turntable at a friend's place. His house was wired with CX 100s in every room except for a few rooms that had IWS. I drooled every time I went to his house, but he never let me play with the remote (a Beolink 1000) or touch the 9500Sad

He now asks me for advice on all B&O, and all of his CXs have foam rot.... The system still looks magnificent though!

Since I have become an adult (and have $$), B&O has consumed me.... and I love it!! Yes - thumbs up
