Hello from Scotland - I've just paid £100 for 2x S45-2 speakers, a Beogram 2400, a Beomaster 2400-2 and a Beocord 6000. It all seems to work, but I'm having a prob. with the Beogram tone arm hitting the side of the record i.e not lifting high enough - on START and skating across the record surface when it gets to the end. It's driving me nuts! HELP!

Welcome to Beoworld !

We've had the arm lift problem countless times here, it's a matter of lubrication and a simple fix. Needless to say you shouldn't use your Beogram before this issue has been solved. Do a search or two and I'm sure you'll find exactly what you are looking for.

A while ago, we talked a member through this fix, I think the Beogram 2400 is the same layout as the one in this thread. About half way through the thread is a photo' of the offending brass pin.
If this is no help, get back to us and I'm sure between us we'll get you sorted.

Andy - After Martin's post mentioning lubrication I did another search (sorry I had lost patience) and found his post with a photo.I've already been into the mechanism with sewing m/c oil and 30 yrs instinct as a Medical Instrumentation Engineer. However I obviously did not know to pay part. attention to said brass pin and it's guiding tube..........very light grade liquid teflon might be an idea here. Dilute cycle grade liquid teflon about 1 drop +3- 5 drops solvent of choice (isopropanol, methanol or white spirit) works wonders with shuttle solenoid valves on clinical analysers........................

Martin and all - there's no chance of that - getting me to shut up might be the prob......

When it comes to the cleaning of our beloved B&O beasties - here's an observation:- there are some "specialist" cleany wipes on the market for microwaves, fridges etc. which are highly overpriced - one brand "Bo****ard - is something like £2-00 for 15 wipes - or summat like that. It is EXACTLY THE SAME chemical mix that is in packs of BABY WIPES (I did the chemical analysis) that you get in the likes of LIDL - 80PENCE FOR A PACK OF 80 WIPES! These  will clean just about anything off of everything and will not harm the surface of plastics etc. You should have seen the crap they took off my newly acquired B&O stuff.

This economy tip comes of being:-

1. A Scot

3. A Scot from Aberdeen who is also Jewish
