    BeoSystem 1 problem

I have a problem with BeoSystem 1. Every time when I turn it on sound level is extremely low, looks like only BeoLab 2 is on.
When I go to Menu-->Sound-->Speaker Level then change it from Auto to Manual or the other way around it resets and works fine until I shut it down. Need to go through this every time I turn it on.
I use it with Lab 8000 Lab 2 (no center speaker yet)

    Any ideas or suggestions?!
    Thank you

the auto or manual setting is only for sound calibration to adjust speaker levels to match each other.  You need to go to menu - sound - adjustment- volume.  set the level to what you like and press go to store.  If you do not see setting stored on screen the system did not save the new level.

    Re: BeoSystem 1 problem

I'm always amazed at how quirky the Beosystem 1 can be. I've encountered the very same problem several times. It seems to happen whenever the beosystem 1 is unplugged or there is a power outage. I've found that you have to go into the sound settings and change each of the speaker selections to another speaker and then go back and choose the correct speaker again. Then, in order to actually save the settings, you have to switch to another source (TV, VAUX, DVD, etc.) and then switch back to your original source. This seems completely illogical, but it seems to work.

    Hi beojeff,
I could live with it if that would happen only when disconnected from power outlet or after power outage, but after each shut down is a bit too much.
I will have to play with it a lot more, perhaps there is something else. By the way I plan to upgrade software, perhaps this will help.

Try going through the extra steps that I described -- even if they seem illogical. Unless you switch to another source and then switch back to the source you were on when you made the changes, the sounds settings might not be saved. This might help you save the settings. I have the latest software, and it still does this. I'm considering getting a surge protector with battery back up for this very reason.

BTW, updating the software is still a great idea. The latest software offers Apple TV and various blu-ray player IR control.

I will definitely give it a try.
It seems like for BS1 changing source acts like restart. I notice any changes I do to settings don't take effect until I switch source.

    I have this issue resolved!
All I needed to do is connect center speaker. I assume BS1 got confused without center speaker connected.
Once I connected it I no longor experience the problem. Sound is perfect from the moment I turn system on.
Thank you all for your comments!

You may also have an early BSys1 which requires a center channel to function properly; you can ck with BeoCare to see if this is the case.  A SW/chipset update would address the issue, as would a center channel... Smile

I indeed have an old BS1. I plan on upgrading SW version.
However I'm still debating if I want to do HD Modification.
