Reducing range of Beo4 or why 2 TVs sitch on at once!

    Following problem:

Avant, Ouverture etc in Living Room.

    MX 4002 in Bedroom.

    Appartement open plan (no doors)

MX always switches on when I only want to turn on the avant.

Both remotes are Beo 4 (can't remember how to read out the software)

Can anyone help me with this one?

If you mean you want to know how to find out the Software version of the Beo4 then

Press GO and MENU at the same time then press LIST repeatly for each value.

If you wish to reduce the range of the Beo4 you can purchase a range reducer from your local B&O store which fits on the top of the Beo4.

    Regards Keith....

Another alternative allbeit a little crude is to tape over the ir with black tape and have a tiny hole which also limits the range on the beo4.

Can be done carefully and agree, the cover is big and ugly.

One solution is the same as when  you have e.g. a MX in the kitchen.

Put the MX in option 4. It will only respond with the Link instruction followed by TV/DVD etc.

If you place the Link instruction in the Beo4 at the first position under the List button, you'll get used to it easily.

You also then have the option to program the Beo4 in the bedroom as an "Link" only remote. It was something like : Standby + List, then  2 0 0 2 Go.

If you have two Beo4's and the software is a minimum of 5.0 then make one of them a link remote and save having to press List every time you command something . Set the Mx to option 6 and follow the procedure below the make one of the Beo4's a link remote .
    Standby + List together
    Press List till CONFIG appears
Enter 2002 , the display should read LINK ON
    Press Exit
This remote will now only work a Link Tv ( your Mx )  and will not interfere with the other and visa versa . To reset to a normal remote remover and replace the batteries .

. Set the Mx to option 6 .

Is meant for general use in linkroom's without the "link" instruction.

Option 4 is the correct one.

Note that if MX4200 SW is lower then 2.91, it doesn't have option 4.

I use Option 6 , you don't have to do a link + command if you make a Beo4 a link remote . I have a Master Linked  Bv7-40 and Bv-6 within range of each other , Bv6 in option 6 and a link converted Beo4 and this remote is ignored by the Bv7 .
