    Your Best Bowie Track

It's dawned on me just how good music can sound through decent kit............. just been listening to Bowies hits and I've got to say things sound real cool through my new speakers (although one speaker doesn't bloomin work)

But anyway, what's Bowies best ????

    My top 3

Life on Mars - Golden Years - Ashes to Ashes

Picking one tune.............it has to be ..................................

    ASHES TO ASHES

    What say you?

I agree with Ashes to Ashes as my favorite Bowie song. However, I believe that sonically "Bring Me The Disco King" is the most impressive thing to play on BeoLab 5s. Queen *** is also pretty good.

    Well, my top 3:

    1. This Is Not America (Live: BBC Radio Theatre);

    2. Young American;

    3. Golden Years.

And it is quite difficult to make this decision =)

    Re: Your Best Bowie Track

    1. Hero's

    2. All The Young Dudes

    3. Life On Mars.

I'll probably change my mind by the end of the day though, there are just too many classics to choose from.

I prefer the Mott the Hoople version of All the Young Dudes. David Bowie wrote it for them, then later performed the song in his own live shows.

    Re: Your Best Bowie Track

I know what you mean Simon but I think the writer of a song tends to perform it as it was meant to be. Take David Bowies version of "Across The Universe" which is very good but pales against the original Beatles version with Lennon on vocals.

Speaking of Lennon - I think I'll add "Fame" to my list which he co-wrote & provided backing vocals & guitar.

    Chris.

    Re: Your Best Bowie Track

Can't believe I missed this - no way I could pick a favourite - I'll pick tracks by album -

Space Oddity - "Unwashed & somewhat slightly Dazed" (engraved on the back of my iPod), "Letter to Hermione"

The Man who sold the World - "All the Madmen"

Hunky Dory - "Queen ***", "Andy Warhol"

Ziggy Stardust - "Ziggy Stardust", "Moonage Daydream"

Aladdin Sane - "Panic in Detroit", "Lady Grinning Soul"

    Pinups - "Sorrow"

Diamond Dogs - "Big Brother", "Sweet Thing"

    Young Americans - "Young Americans"

Station to Station - "Golden Years"

Low (my favourite album) - Warszawa

Heroes - "Joe the Lion", "Sons of the Silent Age"

Lodger - "Look Back in Anger", "Repetition"

    Scary Monsters - "Teenage Wildlife"

........and loads of others, as the mood takes me.

Sadly, for me, this is where he went downhill at a rate of knots - I bought "Lets Dance" and thought it was crap and then bought "Tonight" and it was worse.

I still regularly play his best (and the best regularly changes).

Quite scarily, they are my favourites too!

Do I gain any kudos for once playing on stage with Bowie's drummer from 'The Rats', Johnny Cambridge? Cool
