    BeoCenter 2 and 4 speakers

    Hi everyone,

Is it possible to connect 4 speakers to my BeoCenter2 ( Beolab 1 =front and Beolab 4000=rear)

I remember that it was a discussion on the forum about the same issue, and someone suggested going on the BC2 menu and switching from 2SPeakers to 4 Speakers! I don't remember to see that settings on the menu of the BC2!

Any help will be highly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Constantine

Each powerlink socket can handle up to about 10 speakers connected at any given time. This is not to say that anything close to that would be a recommendation, but it's feasible.

Connecting 4 speakers to an audio system does not actually decode different information for rear channels, but simply replicates the front left and right (like in a car). If you wanted to take advantage of true multichannel audio, this is not doable with only the items you've mentioned.

As for the final result, everyone else put your two cents in, but if I were to do this I would want my front and rears to be identical so that their "voices" matched. Since the info will be identical in the front and rear.

Also remember that the BeoCenter 2 only has one PL out like an active kit, so you'll need a few Y adaptors.

    Cheers!

Re: BeoCenter 2 and 4 speakers

You can connect 4 speakers into your BC2 - but nonetheless it's something I'd avoid! Using BL4000s along with speakers like the BL1s is effectively 'watering them down'. The BL1s can play at very high volume levels relatively effortlessly and the high end especially sounds very detailed and crisp. The BL4000s are a much softer, warm sound, and won't get anywhere near the volume output of the BL1s before things start to go pear shaped.

As TripEnglish says - you won't get 'surround sound' - simply 4 way stereo, as heard in most car sound systems or when you go into a record shop and they have music playing all over the store.
