    Bent drive-shaft on a Beogram 4000

Does anyone have a source for the machined drive-shaft for the arms for a Beogram 4000?

When installing Martin’s new belts, I noticed that this shaft is clearly bent and I can’t imagine this to be a good thing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Jeff,

Put an ad up in the wanted section as well.

    Jeff:

Are you referring to the copper threaded rod?

In most cases this can be corrected. Clean the read of all lubricants.

Get two books for equal thickness.

Place the rod across the book suspended by the edges of the rod.

Using your fingers, roll the rod back and forth gently and note where/when the rod arches up.

Carefully push/bend the rod at its highest curvature to flatten it out.

If you do this over a number of iterations you can get pretty close to true again. You need to be careful not to apply too much pressure as this will make things worse.

    Derek,

Great suggestion, I will try it on Sunday. The bend does not seem to effect the Beogram's performance, but it can't be a good thing.

Thank you very much for the pointer! Smile

    Derek,

Your suggestion worked just like you said. Thanks for such an easy fix.
