    Penta display and new Tv's

Will the Penta speakers displays work when connected to a Bv7-40 or a BeoSystem 3 , I want to use Penta's in a cinema set-up and wondered if they had now dropped this function ?

I would be surprised if they had simply because of the Beolab 3500. I thought you had a 7-40 - try plugging a Penta in and let us know! Laughing

I have got both and could try , will have to wait till the wife is out of the way , I can see her face now if I appear with a Penta under my arm in her day room ( I promise it won't be stopping here my dear !!! ) , I thought someone might know and save me a difficult explanation .

Re: Penta display and new Tv's

I have Penta II's hooked up to my US BS3 and have no display.  I'm using the PowerLink cables that allowed the display to work with my BeoCenter 9500, and the BS3 SW rev is from last Summer (v2?).  So I guess the answer from my experience is NO.  The Penta's were, however, selectable as a speaker type.

If anyone has better luck, let us know.

    Hi beopaul!

Just a thought: When you connected the Pentas to the BS3 did you change the switch on the Penta from "Audio" to "Video"?

On the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if there where display-issues when combining Pentas to newer equipement. For personal experience I already know two "display-bugs" when connecting my Penta MkIII to my BS3000.

    cheers

I knew it , the wife went to the shop and wasn't as long as expected , I had a Penta in the middle of the door and low and behold she walked into it " What's that doing here "  . Before she could get to the rolling pin I explained I was experimenting .
Anyway , no display , I have a Bs7000 MLed to the 7-40 ( all speakers connected to the Tv ) and put the powerlink cable into the 7000 to prove the display and it worked . Like Peter said if you connect a Bl3500 you get data so why no show with Penta's .

Did you set the speaker to Video instead of Audio in the bottom of the speaker?

Tried Video and Audio , my dealer said that the Bl3500 is connected with ML so there is a difference but will look into it further , suggested that I have the TV on and power to the Penta's then connect the powerlink and see if that boots them up .

Re: Penta display and new Tv's

I have a BS3 with 2 pentas hooked up as front speaker.
The displays are working (more or less) OK
There is probably a bug in the soft for the BS3.
After starting the system, It only displays info when i play arround with the volume or switches to another channel.
Typically changing the volume will start the display.
Once they show the info, they work correctly.
I wait for 4.2, maybe the problem is solved than.
My dealer was aware already about this problem.
He asked the serial numbers for the penta to report to B&O

I changed the front right speaker ( BL6000 ) for a Penta , the red stand-by went green but no sound , went into the sound menu and changed the speaker type ( every speaker B&o make is there including Penta and the new Lab10 ) but whatever I chose no sound . By selecting the vacant slot above to penta the sound appeared . Would the service manual show if data is available at the Tv Beolab pins ?

Well, I finally have my system hooked up after a house remodel and update of my BS3 to software 4.17.  I flipped the Penta switch to Video and the display works!

    Hi,

does the display work always ?
I have a BS3 with 2 pentas hooked up as front speaker and the display works sometimes ...
When I power-on they does not display anything but changing for example a channel (in TV mode) or changing sound level can activate the display. Dealer told me the Penta display is not really supported anymore.
4.17 or 4.24 has the same effect
