Best speakers to use with a Beocenter 9500

Hi all - very very close to buying a nice 9500 i have my eye on but the question is what speakers shall i use. I'd like some resally nice looking ones as the room is small so no need for huge beasts. What is the best looking/performing speakers around - was thinking BeoLab 4000s or even the BeoLab 4's but they sound a bit 'plain' to me. Any good passive speakers of yesteryear worth noting as the in bulit amp should be sufficient for my small room.... PS What an awesome looking system the 9500 is - even now, love it!

Thanks in advance everyone - Dave.

PS Suggestions of other brands welcome

Speakers are a fairly personal choice, but in a small room, I would consider S45-2s. Don't worry about the official power ratings by the way!

Hey Dave....good choice on the 9500.....!!

This is just an option....if you don't like big speakers...we took 2 of these.. http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4058784

hid in the walls and then you can take...1 of your powerlinks, convert it to RCA and then to a powered sub..like this..

    http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4104345

    and it sounds incredible...

We did this off a link room...not the 9500...but the 9500 will easily support this ...and you can hide everything....if you want..

Personally....i've got the 9500 in the master with 2 of the beolab 8000's and a 15 inch powered sub....(mind blowing)!!

I would go with a pair of Beovox CX100 or BeoLab 4000. CXs is about forth the price of 4000s.

If size isn't an issue, Peter's suggestion of S45-2 is good, and you can also consider RedLines.

If the setup is your primary setup, I would, if your funds allow, buy a pair of Pentas or 8000.

    Living room: BV7-40 mkIV + V8000, BL5, BL3, BM1 and BS9000. Bedroom: MX3000 and BL4500 on MCL2-AV. Around: PentaIII, CX100 and MCX35 on ML/MCL + MCL2-A, BeoPort and BL4 on ML, BS3300 + M75 as stand alone, BC6000 + BC600 and BT1100, LC1, LC2, Beo4, Beo5 and BL1000, BS2 and A8, EarSet2, Apron, Coffee mugs, Enamel Bagdes, Bath towel, Keyring, Books, Lots of miniature and the Bottle opener. Office: BC2300 + BL2500 and BS3. Summer house: BS Century.

    Addicted? Oh no.... ;)

Its not my primary set up as i have a beosound 3000 with a pair of 6000s and an Avant as my lounge system but i've always wanted either 8000s or Penta Mk2/3's for the lounge just couldn't warrant £1000 for a pair.

Love the 4000s as they sound nice and warm and never heard any passive speakers and for the savings i'd make i'm sure the redlines would sound great... decisions decisions.....

If it was me, I would either find a cheap pair of Pentas (III) for the lounge and move BL6000 to the other room, or buy a pair of passive speakers. Do not underestimate the CX100 if you don't know them, however RedLines are good speakers also.

BL6000 and BL4000 are not very different. I think the 4000 has a more rounded sound with a little more bass, but the 6000 has the look.

What about some Beolab 5000s? They match the looks of the 9500 really well IMO, and sound superb, whilst taking up little space (compared to pentas, at least!).

The 5000s are fantastic looking speakers but are as rare as hens teeth. I'd settle for some Beovox 3000 or 5000s which are the passive versions if memory serves me correctly..... When they do surface for sale they aren't cheap either!! Lots of choices out there.....

Re: Best speakers to use with a Beocenter 9500

    Hello Dave

I hope you enjoy your BC9500. I can recommend the redline 60.2 and Mk iii Pentalabs with the 9500. I have used both (at the same time with the pentas power-linked) and still use the RL 60.2 with mine to this day. The RL60.2 do vary in terms of tone dependant on the way you place them but I think they are a perfect match.

    Best Wishes

If you do go for a pair of CX100's then I would also get a Beovox Cona Sub to go with them. CX's are great for their size but lack a little in bass.
