    BeoCenter 9500

    Hello dear BeoFriends.

I'm || this close to buy the Lab3's, and are looking for a system to match. A friends parents had the BeoCenter 9500 some years ago, and I really like the design.

As I understand, the 9500 comes with powerlink connections, so that I can use the Lab3's and other Labs.

The reason I wrote this post, was to get some tips and experiences from all the members here who own this system (or 9300). Are there any known major issues? I.e. the CD mecha, amp unit, circuitry or other components.

    Thanks in advance.

     Best Regards

    Marius

    Hi Marius,....

I agree with you....i've got the 9500 and it is my favorite piece of BnO stuff.....absolute favorite....others here can tell you about the mechanisms..

Yes, it does have both speaker link and power link....both...so it's versitile...\\

     Good Choice !!

Wonderful device - I have one and it is IMHO the most user friendly and one of the best looking systems you can get. It will work very well with Beolab 3s and this actually bypasses the power amplifier which is possibly the weakest part of the system. (Still not bad though!)

There are issues - the CD mechanism is not available any more but is pretty robust. Failures are most likely to be capacitor problems rather than the laser. Not had any problems at all with mine. It is even better when used with a Beolink 7000 as this allows a considerable amount of programming.

    Right on Peter !!!

My 9500 is in mint condition....thank god....but to make sure that i don't have CD problems... I got the "outboard" CMM-10 (built by sony 10 disc player) and installed that in the closet....and do all my CD'ing off that.....

Thanks....Peter for all your help getting this stuff set up...

    Re: BeoCenter 9500

So there's several known issues with the CD mecha?

By the way; I have found one seriously nice 9500, but there's one thing that makes me wonder. On the 9500's I've noticed that there's printed "BeoCenter 9XXX" on the upper left side of the system. But on the one I've found, there's written nothing at all! Only "Bang & Olufsen" on the upper right side. Could the seller have done something with the system, or did some of the 9500's come with nothing written on them?

     Best Regards

    Re: BeoCenter 9500

All 9500's left the factory with "Beocenter 9500" written on the left rear flap. 9300's had a blank flap with not even a space for the writing.

It is possible that the flap could have been replaced, as the only one available form spares stock is that from the 9300.

In my experience this does happen as I have replaced several myself. In fact I have a 9500 advertised now with blank flap AND no white stripe!!

This particular one is the second one I have seen "sans" white stripe although I do believe that Lee has had one in the past. This could be due to shortages in the factory during manufacture.

The easiest way to check whether 9300 or 9500 is to look under the flap. 9500 will have separate phono input whereas 9300 has combined Phono/Tape2

    Regards Graham
