    Beoport Box / PC2 Box

On the side of my Beoport Box there is a small black sticker covering a hole ! is there a connection behind it and if so what does it do ?

I don't want to peel of the sticker on mine as I only got it in December so it's under warranty for 4 years and doing that might void the warranty.

I would like to connect a set of speakers to the box but can't justify a set of beolabs as I don't really listen to music in that room and would just like a "cheap set"

I tried connecting into the earphone socket but that works with a set of A8's but not with a set of PC speakers it even causes the beoport software to quit

If anyone has gone behind the sticker I'd love to know whats behind.

    Best regards

    Richard

Richard the sticker covers an earphone connection, the one you have tried to use I believe for an I.R. reciever to be connected. Maybe that is why it caused the box to shut down. Maybe one of our members can confirm this, my Beoport is buried in a mess of cables behind my PC.Laughing

I have an IR receiver connected so it's not that one.

The headphone socket is on the other side of the box all on its own.

If you look at the installation instructions it shows the stiker in the diagram.

In the old forum, somebody said that port was for "line-out".  I tried to use it once, but it did not work.  Then again, I didn't mess with it that much so it could be that I did something wrong, not that it definitely doesn't work.

Re: Beoport Box / PC2 Box

I have the Beoport since 2002. The manual said this hole was for Line-out, as Stan said, but reserved for the future. Maybe "future" still didn't arrive, because i know nothing new about this hole.

its a line out. I use it to connect to the line in of the PC monitor.

However, recently the line in at the Beoport stopped working. Any ideas if there is any fuse that can be blown?

I can confirm it was intended as a line out.

With regards to your apparent "Line in" problem. Can you still control the Beoport form the PC ?

The only fuse will be in your mains plug,

I suggest you start by powering down the Beoport and other items on the Masterlink and then power up again after a few minutes.

Re: Beoport Box / PC2 Box

Hi, it is indeed a line out connection, I use it everyday to send the audio signal to my wireless speakers throughout the house!

It works with my BeoPort in option 2, and no headphone connected; if I remember correctly, I once plugged in headphones and the line out was muted, but after restarting BeoPort (=unplug/replug), everything worked fine again.

I think it also mutes when using the Powerlink socket at the same time, not 100% sure because I onlny use Masterlink & line outputs on my BeoPort box.

Have tried all, but still no luck. So I will send it to the dealer's

BTW: line-out I also can confirm, I use it to connect it to my monitor

Not a stupid question at all..

The actual output is basically the same except you can mute the headphone output independently of the powerlink output.

If you go to the centre of the volume up/down on the Beoport virtual remote you have "Mute" click to the right or left of "Mute" and you get "Mute HP" with HP meaning headphones. If you press "Mute HP" while you are listen to something, the output will be unaffected, only the headphones will be muted.

I've been using for some years now the earphone output socket for a set of PC speakers and sometimes for a earphones set, with and without beolabs connected in the PL socket, and NEVER this has caused the beoplayer software shut-down.
But I've only used options 4 and 6 for the beoport setup.

Otherwise, the sticked line-out plug never worked in my beoport (BeoLinkPC2 2004 model) and I've tried several times in several forms, same than Stan.

Re: Beoport Box / PC2 Box

    Hi,

I use the headphone socket to connect the PC speaker, but does any knows is it supposed to work this way when I turn on n.music or n.radio in the main room then the music also plays from the PC speakers conneted to the headphone socket on the Beoport box. The PC is not located in the same room.

I have a Beosound 3000 and a Beovision 8 in the main room and I also have a beolink Passive for speakers in the kitchen.

But is i possible to set the Beoport/Beolink PC2 up to avoind the PC to play also when the n.music/n.radio is used form other rooms?

I suspect it works that way because the design engineers assumed that because the headphone plug is being used there must be a person sitting there ... and that is why I think the PC speakers are activated.

If you were to connect the PC speakers to the PowerLink speaker sockets then I think they would only play music if the IR eye on the BeoPort detects the n.music/n.radio commands.

Here are some threads for guidance on what kind of adapters and/or wiring you may need:

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

    Hi,

When using the Audio Out on my Beoport I face the problem, that I cannot control the volume from my Mac. I am using Linkplayer (BM-Link refuses to work).

Further I can play the Masterlink sources, but do not get any MAC Sound out of the Audio Out. THis worked fine with the headphone Jack - while thias has the problem of a loud buzz tone when Beoport is sent to standby.

Hope you have ideas that help me.
