Ouverture linking to MC/MCL issues - please help!

Looking for some help with the following audio set up, as everything is linked but not working...

    - Ouverture

    - MC/MCL or Beolink Passive

    - Red Line RL 60's

The Ouverture does not seem to be communicating with the amp which just has its red light on, so I'm guesssing it on standby.

I have tried linking through the masterlink, and also the powerlink.

At this stage I'm thinking there must be a software issue or a faulty lead, but if someone can advise on how these things should be set up that would be great.

The Ouverture has two powerlink outputs, the MC/MCL as one powerlink input?

    Many thanks!

It should work using the Powerlink socket. If you have an IR eye, you could use Masterlink and see if it will work that way,  I take it that you are using it in the main room?

Peter is, as always, spot on.  One thought - what kind of powerlink cable did you use - to take the MCL out of standby, you  need a fully wired version, not the thin MK1 or MK2 cable supplied (until 2007) with Beolab 4, 6, 8 etc.

ML isn't needed with full spec PL - a run of suitable cable is also fewer ££'s than an IR sensor.

Be carefull that you don't confuse the issue King Street. It is the Mk2 powerlink cable that IS required here. This is the thicker, fully wired version originally developed for speakers with digital displays and for this type of application.

    The cable versions are:-

Mk1 Original thin cables, Mk2 fully wired and definitely suitable for this job, Mk3 developed with extra shielding for ice power speakers and possibly suitable for this job. I will dig out a Mk3 cable later and try it!

OK, this is starting to make sense, as my local B&O store agreed that it should all work using the powerlink cable, which I promptly bought.

I was very suprised just how thin it is...  felt somewhat cheated.  Anyway got it home, installed it and sure enough it has not worked.

So I need to get a fully wired Mark 2 powerlink cable, in terms of which socket to plug this in on the Ouverture - am I right in thinking its two powerlinks for two sets of speakers?  or is it left and right?  so does it not matter which one I connect to the MC/MCL.

Thanks for all the responses, does this mean all the kit is correct and will work - its just the cabling thats the issue.

One last thing is I do not have the IR eye, as the amp is just behins a false wall, which means I can have the Ouverture and speakers all wall mounted for a super clean look that my 1year old can\t pull herself up on!

    Many thanks for the advice!

OK - MK2 Bosscom Powerlink cable just orderred, hopefully this will see me right...

Will let you know how I get on, thanks so much for all the advice, can't believe how quickly people respond on this board, its the first time I have posted and really appreciate it.  As you can imagine after 5 hours of drilling, fitting and wiring of everything for it all not to work was bit of a downer...

You only need the IR eye if the speakers and amp are in a different room to the Ouverture. You would also then use Masterlink cable.

In your situation, the IR in the Ouverture will work as normal and enable full control of your passive speakers.

You can use either of the powerlink sockets on the Ouverture as they both contain left and right information.

Powerlink sockets actually carry all the information for both left and right speakers so you only need use one and you can then daisy chain the speakers. This is why there is a left and right switch on the speakers. Very annoying to get the wrong cables I agree.
