Beogram 8000 disassembly and replacement of capacitor kit

I have an ancient Beogram 8000. I need advice on how to disassemble this without breaking it and I need advice on which components to replace for an upgrade (I think it's most often the capacitors who need replacement, but where and how??). My problem right now: No sound!

They come apart reasonably easily - the manual is on site but you can possibly find it for free on the internet if you don't want to subscribe. You have to be quite careful with the lid and the back panel as the sprung lid has its spring in the back and the plastic around it becomes brittle with age. There are screws underneath to loosen the top and you need to remove the hangers on the suspension. To get to these, remove the platter and the panel under the parked arm (use a large coin to undo the plastic screw as it is very soft and a screwdriver will tear it). Martin (Dillen on site) can probably provide you with capacitors and most of his kits come with instructions. Whilst there, I would suggest replacing the celluloid tacho disc with a metal one. Again Martin is your man!!

Yes, I can supply a new tachodisc and also a cap kit for convinience.

You don't need to disassemble the hinged lid. Let it stay on and you won't risk breaking anything. The underside of the rear plastic piece has a lip that grips the rear edge of the bottom plate. The rest is in the manual. Looks impossible but is quite simple when you know how.

Hi,NEW member{1st post!},and it's about a beogram 8000 I just got.The tachodisc is shredded,so I need a replacement, and was thinking of" bringing it up to par".From what I gather here,Dillen is the man in that department!I don't want to violate any rules but how can I communicate with him without getting anyone in trouble?I also have a 4004,a TX,an RX2,of which the RX2 is the only "operating one".Thanks for any ideas or leads, take care and have fun when you can, spookd
