Beocom 6000 Red indicator light flashing

I'm the proud new owner of a Beocom 6000 and am very pleased with it. However, the red indicator light is flashing on the handset and after reading the manual, none of the reasons it would be flashing are appropriate. Any ideas?

Not sure but I think it's so you can find it in the dark? Anyway you can switch it off in the settings menu.Big Smile

If the Beocom 6000 handset is in its basestation it could be you didn't have plugged in the telephone wire into the wall socket.

It is usually that you have received a call and the caller is not in your phone book. Scroll through the caller ID list and the red light usually goes out. Drives me crazy at times as it does seem to do it at times for no obvious reason but scrolling through the list usually resets it!

My red lights only flash when the phone line is pulled out the wall or when you are using them.

Can you set the Beocom 6000 to flash as a warning of unanswered calls too...that would be extremely useful for the 1571 answer machine service.

The red light indicates that it has some news, whether that is no contact with base, time not set, no dial tone, or missed calls.  If you have multiple hadsets you may have to check the others depending on the problem.  To find out what the news is, simply pick up the phone that is flashing and press the OK buttom and it will display for example 'missed calls' then press OK and cycle through the missed call list, once you have done this the light will stop flashing.

@JOFF the Beocom 6000 will flash if calls are missed, automatically, it is not a setting you have to apply unless you have disabled it in the first place.

Re: Beocom 6000 Red indicator light flashing

Ok, I removed the phone from the base, unplugged it and plugged it back in. Then put the phone in the base and it reset the clock and registered the phone. The light was still flashing so i checked the 'caller id' button and there were call information listed from the previous owner of the phone. Once i scrolled through them, the light stopped flashing. Pushing the center button and scrolling didn't alert me to any calls missed.

     Problem solved.

    Thanks for all the advice.

    Question:

I thought you can add an earset to the 6000? I am unclear where you would attach it to the phone. I see the 2 black dots at the top of the phone but they don't look like they come out.

The black dots are for the IR control of your audio / AV volumes.

The earset 1 can only be added to the latest versions of the Beocom 6000, which is what I assumed you had, hence the advice to press the OK button.  On the MKI it is a little different but at least you have sorted it now.

Your location says Los Angeles, should you not be using a BeoCom 1 over there?  The BeoCom 1 has always had the option for an Earset if I remember correctly.  Otherwise, no, your Beocom cannot be modified without incurring the cost of, pretty much, a new handset.

Further comments on the difference between a Mark I & Mark II version can be found HERE

The Earset 1 can only be used with a Mark 2 version. To quickly see the difference between a Mark 1 & a Mark 2, look at the top of the phone, a Mark 1 has two black dots and a Mark 2 has the small socket for the Earset 1.

Also you can only press the centre button to find out further information on a Mark 2 version typically the number of someone who called you while you were already taking a call.

Re: Beocom 6000 Red indicator light flashing

I am in LA and got the phone off of eBay. The earpiece isn't that big of a deal, just heard people talking about it and thought all the phones had the ability to add the accessory.

    Thanks.
