crossover replacement or suggestion for S80

    Hi there, experts...

I have a pair of S80's, and made the mistake of using them as additional sound reinforcement for a rap performance, driven by a Pioneer home receiver. I don't recall hearing any distortion or bad sounding pops from them the night I performed, but in any case they are acting like blown speakers. I can still see the red LED flickering but I only hear sound from them when I turn up the amp extremely loud, and then it's crackly and very weak. The odd thing is that both speakers are acting exactly the same. The receiver is fine.

Is there a particular point you'd recommend me to start with this repair? I've examined the crossover network but was unable to see any sign of blown components.

ooh - i think this is one for Martin possibly?

Paging Martin - but i'm sure there are plenty of other people on here who would know!  Try not to throw the word 'expert' around though - it makes me feel guilty for being so dim!

Sounds like the protection circuit has tripped. Push back in the little yellow pin next to the red LED, in most cases it will produce a little click. Let us know if that did the trick.
