    Serenata Beosound 6 - problems transferring music in itunes

    I've just bought a serenata and want to transfer music from itunes.

    I've installed the B&O plug-in & followed all the (very limited!) instructions on the B&O website. The serenata shows up on the desktop and is listed as a device in itunes.

    However, normally when you connect a device in itunes and then click on it, a main screen appears in itunes where you choose which playlists you want to sync (the page has 4 tabs i think "Summary", "Music", "Podcasts" & "Contacts".

    I dont get this for the serenata (and i have the same problem with my new Beosound 6). I've also tried just dragging and dropping music into the music folder in both but both just show as empty when I disconnect the device

    Can anyone help? I am desperate! :(

    Re: Serenata Beosound 6 - problems transferring music in itunes

    Firstly, you need to ensure the serenata is set to "Mass Storage Mode", otherwise it won't transfer with a mac. Also, I personally just drag my music onto the serenata in a finder window and don't bother with the itunes plugin, works faster for me. The page you talk about in itunes is just for syncing with an ipod, it won't show up when you connect your serenata.

    Secondly, I had a problem with my serenata a few weeks back, where it said my library was empty, even though I had 3.8Gb of music on it, so check in the memory status on the serenata to see if your files are on it, but not showing up. Took the serenata to my dealer, and it seemed there was a fault and it was replaced. (I have some pictures of the screens i can put up if you want to see that its the same as yours fault wise.)You may need to reformat the hard drive, but your dealer should be able to tell you in more detail. Hope this helps.

    Agree! I had a play with one before they were released and before the iTunes fix was released. Set to Mass storage and dragged the music there. Worked fine! It worked with MP3 but not AAC - I don't know if they have allowed AAC now!

    Re: Serenata Beosound 6 - problems transferring music in itunes

    thanks for this.  yes set to mass storage mode.  have tried drag and drop and although i can see it in the music file when its connected to my mac, when i disconnect phones say music library is empty.  i checked in memory status and that appears to be empty too.  wonder if this is something to do with how you "eject" the serenata - i cant eject like an ipod in itunes but i do choose eject in finder but it still shows "serenata connected to pc - end the connection to use serenata again" - i end u having to just pull out the lead  then nothing in memory?  any pointers?  (thanks v much for your time)

    Re: Serenata Beosound 6 - problems transferring music in itunes

    I received email from my dealer when I had a bit of trouble with my Serenata, and it said the following;

    "When you transfer music to Serenata from a MAC computer, remember to 'eject' Serenata properly from the

    computer (by means of the 'eject' function) before you disconnect it from the MAC, otherwise the Serenata

    memory may be corrupted and the storage must be re-formatted and all the music must be transferred

    again. "

     I had a problem similar to yours, and when we tried it on a PC in the B&O store the dealer and I had no luck in getting music on. Therefore it was a problem with the phone. Pulling the lead out without ejecting the drive will not work, and may even be the cause of the problem as you could have corrupted the memory. My advice would be to take it to your dealer and explain the problem, He'll get in touch with the technical dept at B&O who should send him a list of number sequences which can reformat the hard drive. If that, like in my case, fails to work, I'm sure there'll be no problems having your Serenata replaced for a functioning one. This is what happened to me.
