Beovision 7-40 Mark III with sw 4.12 support 24 fprs
I have got this letter from B&O today: Thank you for your email dated 10 March.
We are still working on the case with the flash problems, and it has therefore not been solved in the 4.12 software version.
This new software wll be compatible with 24 fprs, but you will experience a frame rate conversion as the BeoVision 7 is a 50/60 hz screen.
Kind regards Bang & Olufsen a/s

Re: Beovision 7-40 Mark III with sw 4.12 support 24 fprs
Hi, a television which FULLY support 24 fprs, must have a screen that support 24, 48, 96 or 120 hz. Beovision 7-40 just supports 50/60 hz. A lot of LCD:s of other brands support 24 fprs but have a 100hz screen. It will just have a positive impact when you are looking at 50hz-sources like DVD or cable-tv. When you are looking at 1080p-content like Blu-ray you need a screen which supports 24,48,96 or 120 hz to be perfect in motion compensation.

Re: Beovision 7-40 Mark III with sw 4.12 support 24 fprs
hi, i have got a new letter from B&O regarding the 24 fprs-issue. Read this: Dear Mr Stroem,
Thank you for your reply.
I regret that I have misinformed you about the software 4.12 supports 24 fprs. It will be implemented in a later software. The 4.0 software does therefore not support 24 fprs.
Kind regards Bang & Olufsen a/s
Mette Krabbe Helmholt BeoCare Therefore we have to wait further to get a 24 fprs support and get rid of the "jerking" picture when looking at Blu-ray movies.

Hi Martin, Thanks for finding this out for us. At least it is a small comfort that B&O states that 24fps will be supported in a later software release, which hopefully means it is on their radar. Christian

Hi I don't know if it the same thing, but i just got my new BV7-40 yesterday, with SW 4.12a, and i was watching a movie with my DVico Tvix 4100 HD. The video out mode of the Tvix said 24 Hz, and the movie looked wonderful. Sorry if this is not the same you are taking about, but i thought i had to expose my experience.

Beolab, you said the same thing for 4.03 and then 4.12 :) Can you imagine if we'd asked our dealers if they could upgrade our TVs, each time. Are you definitely sure the support is coming in the next revision?

Dear All: How do I check which SW I have? Can I upgrade the software myself? If so, how? Dario

Re: Beovision 7-40 Mark III with sw 4.12 support 24 fprs
You can not upgrade the sw yourself. You need a program called "servicetool" and I dont know how to get that. Later this spring, a new software will support 1080p/24 fprs, but it will not be a full support. You need a screen that can handle 120hz and the screen in the BV 7-40 just handles 50/60 hz.

Re: Beovision 7-40 Mark III with sw 4.12 support 24 fprs
I was reading about 24fps support and PAL/NTSC TVs this afternoon. I don't know if the magazine was correct, but it appears that 24fps support is better for NTFS TVs as PAL TVs do a better job of re-creating the frame rate (ie 25fps rather than the pulldown 30fps support on a NTFS TV). Even if you could get hold of that service tool, I'd never want to try and upgrade the sw on my B&O. If you messed up the install, I think B&O would rightly charge a lot of money to repair. Indeed, could it be repaired at all?

Re: Beovision 7-40 Mark III with sw 4.12 support 24 fprs
Can you please explain what the update is supposed to do? In other words; can I tell a difference in picturequality? Or is it only usefull when playing DVD or BlueRay?

The update are only useful when you are watching DVD, BluRay and broadcasted movies. So what does this fix solve? Everything that is recorded in 24Hz are going to get much smoother and more detailed in picture movements and pans( Less pixel reduction).. In ordinary TV broadcastings the material are recorded in 50Hz (Pal) and 60Hz (NTSC) and you are getting a picture by picture match on your TV, but not when it´s comes to movies. Moviematerial are usually recorded in 24Hz and that means you only get half the pictureamount the TV need´s for a smooth result. What B&o have dun with the 25p firmware update: Because the panel can only handle 50 or 60 Hz and not 100 Hz they have interpolated the frequency with 25p x 4 = 100 Hz and then divide it with 2. Now you get 50Hz match for a more picture to picture sync.. So you are only missing 4 fps insted of 26 fps loss when you watch a move.. And you must be aware of that this is not a real 24p mode.. If you want real 24p you need a 100Hz / 120Hz panel, but it´s as good as it can be... Regards
