    Beosystem 5000, MUCH confusion!

OK guys, thanks in advance for answering my neophyte questions, so here goes nothing:

I just got a Beosystem 5000 to go along with my 5500, and I LOVE the looks of it, esp. the turntable; however, I'm encountering two major problems . . .

    1) When I turn on the Beomaster, it stays on for a while, responds to various functions, sounds good through my CX-100s, but only for roughly 30-45 seconds.  Then it inexplicably shuts off and goes into standby.  It's not like it loses power b/c the LED is still on, but for some reason it clicks off -- no numbers on the LED, a little click in the speakers.  Off.  Any clue why?  Is this a problem, or is there some off-timer that's set that I don't know about & that I can fix?

    2) The Beogram 5000 seems to want to cue when I press the cue button, but the tone arm automatically goes back into it's resting position after about 10 seconds of the record spinning.  No sound in those 10 seconds.  Is this a simple matter of adjusting the tone arm, or is there something more to this?

As always, I'd be entirely grateful for any help you guys could provide.  Thanks again for everything!!

    Hi

ad 1:  I seem to remember other members also having that problem, is it hot at the back? Perhaps a overheating protection? That would be my guess. Dillen is the one to ask.

cant help you with the beogram though.

With regards to the Beomaster cutting out, this is a common problem.

Potentiometers R226 and R126 go out of spec. Fix by installing multi turn potentiometers of the same value, and reset amplifier bias according to the service manual.

    Cheers,
