    Simple question ?

Can Beocenters 8000 to 9500 be hung horizontally on a wall? sure i went into a dealer (Plumb's in Altrincham) in the early 90's and that was their set up with Penta's. Been looking in the manual and they seem to say flat surface only ??

    Re: Simple question?????????????

No they can't. This was just a display ploy. Haviing said that I had an after market wall bracket for my BC8500 which had a 35 degree from horzontal tilt and that was fine.

I believe it may be possible with the BC9300 as the CD spindle/platter has tiny springs which hold the CD in place. Joeyboygolf will confirm whether I'm right or not.

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

I used to work in Plumbs Altrincham and to the best of my knowledge we never had BeoCentre8000/9500 hung on the wall.  It was only ever displayed laying flat. Are you not mistaking it for BeoSystem3300? This unit could be wall mounted.

    Re: Simple question?????????????

No definately 1993 - 95 ish, it was at the back of the shop in a living room set up, the reason i remember it so clearly is that the gaffer hated stacking systems and fell for the fact it was on the wall. On the left wall.

I am not sure what system was, but it was with the Pentas and looks like a BC8/9000.

The whole range was designed to lay flat and B&O did not  sanction any other orientation.

The whole cd mechanism is not fixed in place in the chassis, it simply floats on springs.

There are some smart alecs who do not accept this and are determined to raise the back of the unit by a few degrees. As far as I am concerned, this is not to be recommended.

    Regards Graham

    Chris.

The only model with any mechanism on the cd spindle was the 9000.

All the others had pressure applied from a complex cantilever device activated by the sliding cover.

    Good thread !!

You know...the more i think of it...i've picked up the old CMM-10 and it's all wired in the walls to a closet (hidden)...and since i intend to play all my cd's off the CM-10...i might hang the BC 9500 flat on the wall (depending on how that looks)....and just not use the CD mechanism on the 9500...

Just make sure the glass panels aren't still held on with the old double-sided tape, as they're likely to fall off.

    Re: Simple question?????????????

Found that out the hard way a few years ago... (BM4500 panel on the floor)
All the glass-panels of both my Beosystem 4500 and 3500 have been re-attached.

@wogga383: was this perhaps the system you are referring to ?

Ignace, thank you, i think you have got itYes - thumbs up, its the right time frame and looks well very similar, i would have been totally unaware of models then. Plans are on again plus i am not insane.

Another litte question. Was the Beogram designed to be vertical as well, not saying i have seen one but i suspect it could be an urban myth?

    Re: Simple question?????????????

The Beogram 4500 could be wall-mounted, but only horizontal.
The Beomaster 4500, Beocord 4500 and Beogram CD 4500 could be mounted vertical.

The 3500 system is similar, but had black / grey finish and didn't have 2 way-communication.
(the 4500 system was white on the front and sides and had mirror panels),

The Beosystem 3300 could also be wall-mounted, Beomaster 3300 and Beocord 3300 vertical,
the Beogram 3300 and Beogram CD 3300 horizontal.
