Avant without Dolby connected to BeoLab 6000s

Hi all - just bought an Avant which diesn't have the Dolby module. I will be connecting up my BeoSound 3000 via Masterlink but apparently my 6000s will only act as the front speakers while the Avant will be acting as the centre speaker. 2 questions for you knowledgeable people:

    1. Will it sound ok and do any of you have experience of this basic set up - will the centre speaker in the Avant be loud enough or will it be drowned out by the 6000s?

    2. Can i swop between just the TV playing in isolation (no 6000s) and the 6000s working as well as the TV via the Beo4?

Not very technical in linked setups as this will be my first......

Thanks in advance guys and gals.

At the time when my Avant had not been upgraded with the dolby digital module, the bass were mainly managed by the TV.

My configuration was Speaker 3 (BL8000 for the front and center speaker of the Avant). The audio retranscription was really strange. It seems all the bass were coming out from the center speaker.

The same thing happened when I added a set of BL4000 for the rear (config. speaker 4). Those ones were connected with the new module integrated in my TV.

Today, the bass are taken care by the BL2 and everything is fine (config. speaker 5). I think we need to get a BL2 connected with the module to get a clean audio retranscription.

Thought it may sound a bit unbalanced so may cancel my order with the dealer and invest in a slightly newer Avant of a 32" variety with pro-logic built in..... Can't beleive how cheap some go for on Ebay in immac condition!!

I would go for the newest you can. Big advantages - mine has DTS included and can, if I want, accept the DTB-S card - I don't want, as it is £300,and would get in the way of my Sky+ box, but that is not the point!! Laughing

Re: Avant without Dolby connected to BeoLab 6000s

Hopefully i'll get myself a decent 32" Avant either VHS or DVD - not too fussed as a DVD recorder will be connected up to it - soon for about £400 incl a Beo4. Wont stretch to a real flat screen on at that price but that should get me a decent one..... Then with my 6000s as the rears i think i'll get a nice balanced surround sound.

Hello, you can grab at a fair price some 32' Avant RF DVD (real flat) for less than 2500 euros.

Personnaly I would go for them as their price decreased a lot during these last 24 months. Many of them have the Dolby Digital 5.1 module integrated and some of them have the DTS chipset included.

    Cheers,
