    Beogram 3300 Question

    Hi,
I'd just like to have someone confirm that the beogram 3300 hasn't got a built-in preamplifier as I've understood it? I'd just like to know as I would need to connect it to a Onkyo receiver which doesn't have a phono input, and but i don't want to buy a preamp if I don't need one. Also, if the preamp which I'll buy, if one is needed, has a 5-pin DIN input, is it possible to remove the 1st and 7th pins from the DIN cable coming from the beogram to connect it?

    Re: Beogram 3300 Question

The Beogram 3300 does NOT have built in RIAA so you WILL need a preamp.

Pins 1 and 7 in the plug should be screwed in and can be removed with a small jewellers screwdriver. However, the majority of commercially available preamps have phono sockets so you will need to either modify the cable or obtain adapters.

    Regards Graham

    Re: Beogram 3300 Question

Thanks for your answer, just what I was hoping to hear. About the preamp though, I've found one which has 5-pin DIN INPUT (rca too) so shouldn't it work just fine with that, without the need to buy an adapter?

That will be fine. What model of RIAA have you found as knowing one with a DIN socket would be useful?

    Re: Beogram 3300 Question

Thought so. Can't really say much about the preamp though, it's a cheapo one from http://www.vekoy.com/product_info.php?cPath=352_354&products_id=8603 (Finnish site). It doesn't say anything about the producer, don't know if the pic helps.
Awesome help though, looking forward to listening to some vinyl.
