Latest Sw for Beovision 7-40 Mark III

Hi, Which is the latest sw for BV7-40 Mark III? I have recently upgraded my 7-40 with sw 4.0. I have heard that there is a sw 4.12. What will this new sw fix?

I know sw 4.01 was released in early February and that's what is installed on my TV. Beolab mentioned that sw 4.03 (with 24fps support) was due soon, but not heard anything since. Are you sure they're on 4.12 already, in less than a month since 4.01?

Do you really think that 4.03 sw will support 24 frames? I thought Beosystem 3 had to be hardware-upgraded. Does anybody know if B&O can confirm this with 24fprs with software 4.03?

Has the latest software definitely fixed the white flashing issue with 1080p content.

I just bought a PS3 at the weekend and have indeed spotted this problem with Blu-Rays, 1080p based games and up-scaled media from the NAS. It is a tad annoying, but sometimes I forget about it after a while (maybe I just tune it out). I only ask this because the dealer wants to charge me for upgrading the software. So if it fixes the issue (and adds other features), I may have to pay the money.

You shouldn't have to pay anything for a 'faulty' TV. These white flash issues do not happen across other brands (I've tried the PS3 on a Sony and Samsung, without issues), so it's a B&O issue with their 1080p screens. I'd tell your dealer he can have the TV back if he can't fix this issue and threatens to charge for attempting to fix it.

so, the BV9 has the same "flash"-problem? Why haven´t we heard about this before? Is it so few Bluray-users out there?

It would be interesting to know if the latest sw 4.12 will fix the flash-problem AND 24fprs-"problem".

As I've mentioned before, the 4.03 sw upgrade fixed the white flash problem on Blu-rays for me, but I still see the flash on the PS3 controller screen and PS3 1080p games. It seems it's a 1080p problem.

To Mr Andersson: If you have sw 4.12, do you know if your BV7 does support 24 fprs?

I have heard that there are a lot of "bugs" in this sw. Have you experienced this?

Does your Bv9 support 24 fprs, meaning does it fully support bluray-movies with 1080p/24fprs with software 4.12?

Re: Latest Sw for Beovision 7-40 Mark III

You can see it when you are looking at bluray-movies when you look at moving objects at the screen. If you se some "jerking" movements in the picture you DON´T have 24 fprs support. But if all movements in the picture (large movements, typ panorama movements) is smooth, then you should have 24 fprs-support. Check it and let me know.

Re: Latest Sw for Beovision 7-40 Mark III

Martin, are you absolutely sure? I don't see jerking on most movies apart from Ocean's 13 and that's also present on the SD DVD.

I don't think we can deduce whether we have 24fps support just from watching a Blu-ray (I wouldn't be able to come back to you and say yes/no, either way). We need a bug update list. Beolab or Coolskin usually have this info..

Re: Latest Sw for Beovision 7-40 Mark III

I have posted a letter to B&O and asked them if the new sw 4.12 will support 24 fprs. I havent got any answer yet. But YES, if you look at some bluray movies (except from oceans 13), you can see small jerking movements in the picture when you look at slow panorama movements. This has got to do with that the BV7 has to make a 3:2 pulldown, which means that the TV has to put one extra frame every second time it updates the picture. When a bluraymovie is recorded in 24 fprs you need a tv that support 24/48 or 96 fprs to get a smooth picture. BV7-40 mark III just supports 50 and 60 fprs. I have asked B&O about this but they just say that the tv supports 25 fprs which is right (half of 50 fprs). They recommended me to get a bluray player that supports 25 fprs. They dont know that all bluraymovies are recorded in 24 fprs. That is really bad that a premium brand dont know about this, or maybe it is just the people at custumerservice that dont know this technical stuff.
