    Wireless B&O

Can I go wireless with B&O? Or do you advise a different route?

I like to have ML music in the kitchen.

My first thought is to buy a (second life) Beolab 2000 and hook it up to Beolink Wireless.

I could be wrong but I believe for it to be wireless it has to have a powerlink connection.  I think the newer BL3500 have the powerlink connection butI don't think the BL 2000 does since it has been discontinued.

If I'm correct the Beolink Wireless is updated. So it can be connected to ML. But I can be wrong.

Either way. If the BL2000 isn't an option, can you suggest what to use as an alternative (B&O style)?

Are you sure?  The wireless manual (on bang-olfusen.com) only shows speakers being connected to the powerlink sockets.  It also shows that the ML connection is for the transmit end.  I guess it doesn't say the ML connection cannot be used on the receive side, but this is my impression from early posts on this site.  Also, they added a powerlink socket to the BL3500 so it would work with the wireless (from the technical specs):

"We have also updated the BeoLab 3500 speaker, giving it a Power Link socket, which makes it compatible with BeoLink Wireless 1. BeoLab 3500 is now compatible with the new BeoLink Wireless 1."

It would be nice if the ML worked on the receive side, but I'm not convinced...

So does this mean that you can put a BeoPort, BeoActive or BeoPassive at the receive end?

    Thanks,

Beoport Not possible. BL wireless is (can work as) an BLActive, and BLPassive can be connected with PL or ML (for Mcl use)

    Re: Wireless B&O

Yeah, I figured BeoPort was too much, but I'm interested in connecting a Wireless to BeoActive to switch my BL speakers between link sourced audio and local, non-B&O audio via the PC-in port (that doesn't seem to exist on the wireless).  Any clue on this?

Thanks again, this is very helpful information you have supplied.

    Re: Wireless B&O

What is the sound quality using Wireless like? My dealer told me that since i had a couple of wireless network APs around my apartment I could pretty much forget about the whole thing and use cables instead. The problem is that my landlord probably would chop my head off if he caught me drilling a hole in his floor. Erm

    Re: Wireless B&O

My dealer told me that it sounds great and most of his customers love it and have no problem with interference from a WiFi network and/or Beocoms (just don't put any of the equipment too near the microwave oven).  On the other hand, when the wireless was first introduced, there was much complaining on this forum about problems with interference.

My cynical side says "of course the dealer is going to say all is well - he wants to sell me something".  Then again, I'm in the US where we mostly build our homes from sticks and paper and, in my area, not densly populated.  If I recall correctly, most (if not all) of the complaints on these forums were from folks living in densely populated areas and/or with thick concrete/stone/metal walls.

Personally, if a dealer tells me not to buy something, I would listen.
