    Hi ArgyleMoss,

Why don't you use coduit pipes istead of " 2"X1" batton "?
It might be a better solution if you want to rewire or add wires to your installation in the future.

    Regards Rasmus

The cables are running in plastic trunking and the 2"X1" batten will be for fixing the plasterboard. The thinking is that before plasterboarding i will be putting in some polystyrene sheets between the batten to act as a soundproofing as the pillock next door complains if i drop a pin.

I wonder if he is related to the pillock living next door to me!!!Big Smile

With all the paper and picture rail removed my attention was cast to the wall to the right of the chimney brest. This wall will have the BS9000, horizontally mounted with the other BL4000 at a high level.

Now this wall is plastered already (unlike the left side that had plasterboard nailed to the bare block) so i had to decide how to run my cables.

As you can see, i had marked out the position of the BS9000 bracket.

As soon as i got home from work today i made a start. Now if i followed the same idea as the left of chimney brest and batten of the wall then because this wall was plastered it would stick out further than the left side, so should i remove the plaster?

    Yes why not.

The plaster was quite soft and with the chaser it came of in around 20 minutes. Problem was it then took an hour and a half to clean up and dust down the room.

With all the plaster removed i have obviously lost my markings of where i want the BS9000. So tomorrow after work i will mark out again and start to fix the battens and trunking.

Things have gone quite slow this week, with one thing and another, ive also been suffering a bit with a cold. Managed to get some batten and trunking fitted to the wall.

Where the two, 2"X1" battens run up the wall (vertically) in the middle of the wall, just happen to be the exact distance apart for screwing in the wall bracket for the horizontally  mounted BS9000 (was that luck or judgment i hear you ask) Well i cant lie, it was pure luck. Still more batten to be screwed to wall yet and the cables to be run in the trunking which will happen tomorrow with photos to follow.

Im quite handy with a bit of carpentry, but im no carpenter, so after work today i asked my chippy mate James to pop round and fit the new door frame to the front room. I had ripped out the old one on Wednesday, had the wood ready in the garage, and to be fair to James he is a brilliant carpenter and could get the frame made up and fitted in no time.

This is James (Im sure one day he will be a B&O convert)

This is a B&O site and i have posted alot of DIY stuff, which may be boring to some, but im very close to getting back on topic with more running of cables to do with the B&O setup. I just want to try and show the complete process. So please bear with me.

    Tomorrow the aerial man comes.

Huge thumbs up from me Mark, I will be tackling my cable routing problem at some point so this to me is invaluable information.

Always helps to see how others have handled cabling and installation issues, what are the chances on having a section dedicated to this? sub forum in the workbench area as an example? Saves us losing the thread in all the posts once completed?

Friday morning and ive taken the morning off as the aerial guys are coming. I asked for a digital TV aerial and FM aerial to be mounted to the chimney and to re-route the 2 sky+ cables into loft to follow the TV and FM aerial route into loft and down through built in wardrobe into lounge below.

Re: Refurb/Redec Beo Installation of Lounge

The aerial guys were brilliant and didnt charge me for re-routing the Sky cables (to be fair i could have done this myself). When i originally had sky installed i was out playing cricket and got home to find they had run the cables from the back of the house in the guttering to the front of the house. They said they werent insured to go in the loft!

This photo is of the sky, tv and fm cables coming from loft into wardrobe.

The AM loop that you see in the above photo actually runs up the same trunking as the BL4000 cables and is pushed between the ceiling of lounge and bedroom above.

Re: Refurb/Redec Beo Installation of Lounge

So at this stage all the B&O installation cables are in place and i thought at this point i should really connect everything up and test, just to make sure everything is working correctly before i plasterboard everything in.

Its also worth pointing out that the ground floor in my house is a suspended floor so all cables from one side of the room to the other can easily be hidden.

Has anyone ever tried hanging their BS9000 on the wall where the cables are built in?

Honestly, this job is not to be taken lightly, it was a huge struggle.

To start with i placed the 9000 and the wall mount and wedged a bit of batten up the back and attempted to connect the cables. This was impossible.

Re: Refurb/Redec Beo Installation of Lounge

The only way to connect these connections was to stand half way up a step ladder and hug the 9000 close to my body and wall yet far enough away from wall for my misses to push in the connections. There wasnt enough 'play' on the am aerial to get that in so i remounted the 9000, pushed up the bit of wood again, and with my head torch on i struggled for around 15 minutes before realizing the plug was the wrong way around.

Anyway finally it was on the wall and connected.

This evening my lounge looks like this.

The 9000, 4000's and BV3 all now have to be un-connected and put in a safe place for the soundproofing and plasterboarding and the electric sockets to be done.

But for the rest of the weekend im going to enjoy some music and TV.

    And so the story continues:-

After removing the skirting in the half bay window i done some damage to the plasterboard wall, so off came the plasterboard, to reveal that this is a single skin wall with some wooden framing that the plasterboard is attached to. So once the plasterboard was off, i bought some insulation board, which was placed between the wooden framing before re-plasterboarding.
