Dave Moulton, King Street, the prize draw........and me.

Way back on the 2nd of January, Dave Moulton posted that he would be in England at the end of the month, more specificaly in Manchester.
Within seven minutes, Peter, Craig and I had all responded. We knew the potential of this visit!
I rang Dave at King Street B&O dealership in Manchester and he duly contacted Dave Moulton in America.
The upshot of this is that Dave was welcomed to King Street on the last day of January. Now, as this coincided with the monthly prize draw, and Lee was coming up to Manchester, and the Prizedrawbot was skiving off in Monacco, Lee decided to almalgamate the prize draw with Dave's visit. A first Beoworld roadshow live draw!
This is my account of the evening with photographs included.

Re: Dave Moulton, King Street, the prize draw........and me.

Now for those of you who don't know, Dave Moulton and his team at Sausalito Audio in California are responsible for the acoustic lens we see on Beolab 5, Beolab 9 etc and in the Audi and shortly Aston Martin cars. His website, http://moultonlabs.com/ is well worth a visit.
Now originally, I hadn't planned on stopping over in Manchester as I had to work in the morning, but at the last minute my Friday morning pupil cancelled due to sickness and I booked myself into the same hotel as I had used on my last King Street visit. No frills but convenient and cheap.
I got there at 5:00 in the evening and was told they didn't have a single room so would I mind a double at the same price, £30.

    This is it.

As you can see from my huge bedroom clock, it was nearly five o'clock. I could stay in for a while and watch "The Weakest Link" or go round to King Street. Hobson's choice, I would say!
So off I went. On the way, I had to walk past this big wheel. Not quite the London Eye but still quite impressive when lit up.

Re: Dave Moulton, King Street, the prize draw........and me.

As usual, I was first to arrive. Well it was only just after five and the invite did say seven!
Never mind, Anne Robinson isn't that fit, and it was nice to meet Dave and Graham from King Street, Ian would be coming later
Due to a good relationship with a nearby coffe shop, the lads had managed to procure some seats and laid them out in rows.
Sorry the photograph is a bit dark.

At the front they had lined up some pairs of Beolabs, 3s, 9s and of course 5s. Don't think the Audi A8 would fit through the door.
Next to the speakers was a Beosound 9000 which was going to be used for demonstrating the Beolabs.

Re: Dave Moulton, King Street, the prize draw........and me.

Dave M(oulton) had been in earlier in the day to introduce himself to Dave J(ennings) and case the joint out.
He told Dave J that he would be arriving at around half past six and had a slide show on a memory stick that he would show us.
While the lads were setting up  everything so we could watch the slides on a big Beovision on the wall, I settled down to read the massive tome called "Vision and Legend"
It wasn't long before Ian arrived and tried to flogg it to me. We have a little thing going, Ian and I. I look at things and he tries to sell them to me!
Shortly, Dave M arrived. What a thoroughly nice man!  Absolutely denies being a genius and says he was just lucky to be at the right place at the right time. I think he's a genius.

This is Dave Moulton with his daughter next to him, and her friend. I think his daughter is called Laura but I'm sure he will correct me if I am wrong.

Glad I got that rightYes - thumbs up

Now while Lee was in the viewing room setting up his Mac for the prize draw, and as it was still reasonably quiet, I asked Laura if she would be king enough to take a photo' of me with her father.
This is a picture I will treasure.
